FSX Ficksburg Airport Scenery

Ficksburg Airport (FAFB) brings South Africa’s Free State gateway to life with custom-built objects, localized effects, and an accurate AFCAD for realistic parking and approaches in FSX. A seasonal photoreal ground base captures the Caledon River setting beneath Mpharane Mountain, and it requires Acceleration or SP2 for full visual detail.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Ficksburg Airport, South Africa. Ficksburg made from completely custom designed objects and effects. Has a custom AFCAD and a photoreal base that changes with the seasons. Ficksburg has become one of the Free State major tourist points for foreign visitors to South Africa. Fickburg lies at the foot of the Mpharane Mountain on the banks of the Caledon River. FSX Acceleration will give the best results.(Also SP2 compatable). Acceleration users will have more eye candy. By Frits Beyer and Jacques Botha.

Instructions :

Windows 7 users follow the following instructions:

1.Unzip "Ficksburg Airport(FAFB).zip" to a temp folder.

2.Copy the "Ficksburg_FAFB" folder to your "FSX/scenery" folder.

3.Copy the "AFX_FAFB_ALT.bgl" file to your "FSX/scenery/world/scenery" folder and copy the effects folder to your main FSX directory and overwrite if prompted. This is for the braai !

4.Run FSX

5.On the main page go to "settings"

6.Now click on "scenery library"

7.Now click on "Add area" and search for the scenery folder.

8.Double click on the scenery folder and look for the"Ficksburg_FAFB" folder.

9.Double click on this folder and then you shall see a texture and a scenery folder.Click on the white area outside the two folders.

10.The scenery will now load !

11.Go to free flight and choose "FAFB" to start your flight !

Windows Vista and XP users :

1.Unzip "Ficksburg Airport(FAFB).zip" to a temp folder.

2.Copy the "Ficksburg_FAFB" folder to your "FSX/scenery" folder.

3.Copy the "AFX_FAFB_ALT.bgl" file to your "FSX/scenery/world/scenery" folder. Copy the effects folder to your main FSX folder and over write if prompted; This is for the braai !

4.Run FSX

6.Now click on "scenery library"

7.Now click on "Add area" and search for the scenery folder.

8.Double click on the scenery folder and look for the"Ficksburg_FAFB" folder.

9.NB !!!!!! click on this folder only once ! and then click on "OK"

10.The scenery will now load !

11.Go to free flight and choose "FAFB" to start your flight !

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
