Aerosoft EDDF is available for MSFS 2020. See which Frankfurt package works, how it differs from stock EDDF, and how to prevent scenery conflicts.
Yes. Aerosoft offers native Frankfurt Airport (EDDF) scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. It is a paid airport add-on rather than the old FSX or Prepar3D package, and it replaces the simulator’s base or Premium Deluxe rendition with a more detailed version of the airport.
Which Aerosoft Frankfurt package works in MSFS 2020?
Use only the Aerosoft package whose compatibility information explicitly includes Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Frankfurt product names have been reused across several simulator generations, so the EDDF name or box artwork alone does not establish compatibility.
| Frankfurt scenery | MSFS 2020 compatible? | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| Aerosoft’s MSFS Frankfurt/EDDF package | Yes | A native, paid airport replacement |
| Built-in Premium Deluxe EDDF | Yes | Microsoft’s included handcrafted airport |
| Older Aerosoft Mega Airport Frankfurt for FSX or Prepar3D | No | A legacy package that cannot be installed directly in MSFS |
Also check the named simulator rather than assuming an MSFS 2024 listing covers MSFS 2020. On Xbox, an add-on must be distributed through the in-simulator Marketplace; a PC installer or Community package cannot be transferred to the console.
Do I need Aerosoft EDDF with Premium Deluxe?
No. MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe already includes a handcrafted Frankfurt Airport, while other editions provide the base rendition. Aerosoft EDDF is an optional replacement for simmers who fly there frequently and want a different level of terminal modelling, stands, markings, lighting and airport detail.
- Choose Aerosoft EDDF when Frankfurt is a regular hub and detailed ground operations justify buying another rendition.
- Keep the Premium Deluxe airport when you only visit occasionally or are satisfied with its modelling and performance.
- Try freeware first when you mainly want to improve the surrounding city or make a smaller visual upgrade.
Airport scenery and navigation data perform different jobs. Updating navdata can change procedures and database entries, but it does not rebuild physical taxiways, stands or terminals if the real airport has changed.
How do I prevent duplicate buildings and jetways at EDDF?
Keep only one complete Frankfurt Airport replacement active. Overlapping EDDF packages commonly cause doubled terminals, duplicate jetways, flickering ground textures or objects appearing through taxiways.
- Identify every EDDF package. Check the MSFS Content Manager and your
Communityfolder for other Frankfurt airport scenery. - Disable competing airport replacements. Remove community packages from the active folder or disable simulator-managed content through Content Manager rather than deleting managed files manually.
- Check Frankfurt-area scenery. A city enhancement may coexist with an airport, but only when it does not replace EDDF assets. Review the coverage before combining Aerosoft with a package such as our Frankfurt am Main scenery download.
- Restart the simulator and inspect EDDF. Changing scenery priority may resolve a limited overlay, but it will not make two full airport replacements reliably compatible.
Clearing the rolling cache is not the first fix for doubled airport objects. Conflicting packages should be removed or disabled before cache troubleshooting.
What are the alternatives to Aerosoft Frankfurt?
Freeware and the built-in Premium Deluxe airport are the main alternatives. Our comparison of freeware EDDF scenery and Frankfurt enhancements distinguishes full airport replacements from packages that improve only the surrounding city.
Owning an older Aerosoft Frankfurt product for FSX or Prepar3D does not make that package usable in MSFS 2020. Our explanation of FSX scenery compatibility with MSFS covers why legacy airports require a purpose-built conversion rather than simply being copied into the Community folder.
