Is the Aerosoft A320 available for MSFS 2020?

Ian Stephens
In short

The Aerosoft A320 is not available for MSFS 2020. See why its FSX/P3D versions will not work and which A320 alternatives suit PC or Xbox.

No. Aerosoft has not released a native Aerosoft A320 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. Its older Airbus A320/A321 products were built for FSX or Prepar3D and cannot be installed as MSFS aircraft. MSFS 2020 already includes an Airbus A320neo, while native third-party alternatives provide more detailed A320-family simulation.

Which Aerosoft A320 versions work in MSFS 2020?

None of Aerosoft’s legacy A320/A321 packages works as a native MSFS 2020 aircraft. The word Professional in a product name does not indicate MSFS compatibility; it identifies a Prepar3D-era edition.

FSX, Prepar3D and MSFS use different aircraft models, gauges, sound systems and package formats. Copying the old aircraft into the MSFS Community folder does not convert it, even if the installer lets you select that folder.

Aerosoft is also a publisher and retailer, so an A320 sold through Aerosoft is not necessarily an Aerosoft-developed aircraft. Check the named developer and the explicit simulator requirements rather than relying on the seller or the word “MSFS”.

Why doesn’t the Aerosoft A320 appear in MSFS 2020?

An Aerosoft A320 that fails to appear is normally an incompatible FSX or Prepar3D installation, not a missing MSFS entitlement.

  • The installer targets another simulator: legacy installers look for an FSX or Prepar3D installation and do not create the MSFS package structure.
  • The aircraft was copied into Community: old files lack the native models, gauges and package manifests MSFS requires.
  • Only a repaint was installed: an Aerosoft FSX/P3D livery needs its matching legacy base aircraft. It cannot be attached to the stock MSFS A320neo. Our Aerosoft A320 livery compatibility guide explains the simulator and model matching involved.
  • A different developer’s A320 was expected: the distributor’s name and aircraft developer’s name may differ, so verify both before installing.

What should I use instead of the Aerosoft A320?

For most pilots, the included A320neo or a native MSFS add-on is the correct replacement.

  • Built-in option: MSFS 2020 includes an Airbus A320neo as standard content. Our aircraft list for each MSFS 2020 edition shows what is supplied without a separate aircraft purchase.
  • Free, more detailed PC option: the FlyByWire A32NX expands the A320neo’s systems and flight-management simulation. It is a PC aircraft rather than an Xbox add-on; see our guide to free jet aircraft for MSFS for the relevant options.
  • A320ceo requirement: choose an aircraft explicitly labelled for MSFS 2020 if you want the older engine option represented by many legacy Aerosoft packages. An A320neo is not an exact substitute because its engines, performance and cockpit details differ.
  • Xbox installation: use included aircraft or products carrying explicit Xbox compatibility. PC downloads and Community-folder packages cannot be installed on Xbox.

What if the included MSFS A320neo is missing?

If the standard A320neo is absent, repair its official MSFS package before installing another aircraft.

  1. Open Content Manager: search for “A320” and install or update any owned official aircraft package shown there.
  2. Remove conflicting mods temporarily: on PC, move A320 enhancements and old liveries out of the Community folder, then restart the simulator.
  3. Test the unmodified aircraft: load the stock A320neo at a default airport before restoring add-ons one at a time.
  4. Check the product platform: if the missing aircraft is labelled Aerosoft A320/A321 for FSX or Prepar3D, it will never appear in the MSFS aircraft selector.
