Check FSLabs Concorde-X compatibility with MSFS 2020 and 2024, which legacy simulators it supports, and why copying it into Community fails.
No. FSLabs Concorde-X does not work in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or 2024. It was built for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX), with later builds supporting FSX: Steam Edition and certain Prepar3D releases. Those similarly named simulators use older add-on systems that modern MSFS does not support.
Which simulators support FSLabs Concorde-X?
Concorde-X requires the legacy simulator and matching product build for which it was released. Our archived Concorde-X v1.3 release coverage confirms support for FSX, FSX: Steam Edition and Prepar3D, but that does not make it compatible with later Microsoft Flight Simulator generations.
| Simulator | Concorde-X compatibility | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Flight Simulator X | Yes | Use the installer intended for your FSX edition and required service level. |
| FSX: Steam Edition | Yes, with supported later builds | Do not assume an older boxed-FSX installer supports Steam Edition. |
| Prepar3D | Only specified releases | Match the Concorde-X installer and licence to the supported Prepar3D generation. |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 | No | A native MSFS aircraft is required. |
| Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 | No | A native or explicitly compatible modern MSFS aircraft is required. |
Why can’t Concorde-X be installed in MSFS 2020 or 2024?
Modern Microsoft Flight Simulator cannot load Concorde-X’s legacy aircraft package, gauges and simulator-specific systems code. MSFS 2020 and 2024 use a different SDK, package structure and aircraft systems environment from FSX and Prepar3D.
A mistake we see constantly is pointing an old installer at the MSFS Community folder. Forcing the path does not convert the aircraft: it may remain absent from the aircraft selector, appear without working systems, or fail to load. Renaming folders, creating symbolic links and using compatibility mode do not solve the underlying API differences.
This affects far more than Concorde-X. Our explanation of why FSX aircraft cannot be installed natively in modern MSFS covers the broader compatibility break.
Can Concorde-X be converted to modern Microsoft Flight Simulator?
There is no practical end-user conversion for Concorde-X. A proper port would require the developer’s source assets and extensive redevelopment of the model, cockpit displays, flight dynamics, sounds and complex Concorde systems against the modern SDK.
Automated converters may recover limited visual material from simple legacy aircraft, but Concorde-X depends on custom systems logic. Even if an exterior model appeared, that would not produce a usable simulation of its fuel transfer, flight controls, navigation equipment or engine management.
What should Concorde-X owners use instead?
Keep Concorde-X with a supported FSX or Prepar3D installation if you want that specific product. Confirm that your installer matches the exact simulator edition before installing; compatibility with one Prepar3D or FSX release does not guarantee compatibility with another.
For MSFS 2020 or 2024, choose a Concorde developed specifically for the modern simulator and verify support for your platform and simulator generation. We separately outline the available Concorde choices for modern MSFS and Xbox.
Does FSLabs Concorde-X work on Xbox or PlayStation 5?
No. Concorde-X is a legacy Windows add-on and cannot be installed on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. Console editions only accept add-ons packaged and distributed for their supported Microsoft Flight Simulator ecosystem; an FSX or Prepar3D PC installer cannot be sideloaded.
