Why does the Fenix A320 reduce FPS?
The Fenix models far more aircraft systems than a basic default aeroplane, while its cockpit displays and supporting software require additional processing. A lower frame rate than you see in a simple general-aviation aircraft is therefore normal; the difference is not a fixed penalty on every PC.

How do you find the Fenix performance bottleneck?

Benchmark from the same gate, in the same weather, with the same cockpit view and aircraft state. Let the Fenix finish initialising before recording the result. Changing the location, camera and five settings at once produces numbers that cannot identify the cause.
How can you improve Fenix A320 FPS?
- Establish a repeatable baseline. Test the Fenix and a lighter default aircraft in the same saved situation. A large drop with both aircraft points towards the airport, traffic, weather or simulator settings rather than the Fenix alone.
- Remove competing add-ons temporarily. Disable unrelated scenery, traffic injectors, recording tools and overlays, then repeat the test. Do not remove the Fenix's own required packages or close its companion software.
- Fix a main-thread limit first. Reduce AI or live traffic, parked aircraft, airport vehicles and workers before sacrificing cockpit image quality. Terrain Level of Detail is another major CPU control, particularly near large cities and hubs.
- Fix a GPU limit separately. Lower render scaling in small steps, followed by clouds, shadows, ambient occlusion and reflections. Texture Resolution should usually remain high unless VRAM is actually exhausted; lowering it rarely fixes a pure main-thread limit. - Use the Fenix performance options available in your release. Depending on the installed version, its app or EFB may offer display-quality, refresh or rendering controls. Select a performance-oriented option and compare frame times. If the installer offers different texture resolutions, choose the smaller package when VRAM is limited. Names and locations can change between Fenix releases, so old tuning instructions may no longer apply.
- Cap the final frame rate. Choose a limit your system can maintain during approaches and at busy gates, not one achieved only in cruise. A steady 30 or 40 FPS often feels better than continuous swings above and below those figures.
Avoid assigning high process priority or manual CPU affinity to the simulator and Fenix processes. Such tweaks can starve supporting processes, worsen frame pacing and make later troubleshooting harder.
Why is Fenix FPS worse at large airports?
Large airports combine terminal geometry, apron objects, ground services, traffic and nearby scenery with the A320's systems and active displays. This commonly makes the main thread the limiting factor while parked or taxiing, even if the flight is GPU-limited in cruise.
Reduce traffic and airport activity first. If one third-party airport remains dramatically slower than the default version with traffic disabled, its scenery complexity is probably the dominant cost.
Will frame generation fix low Fenix A320 FPS?
Frame generation can improve displayed smoothness, but it does not remove a main-thread bottleneck or accelerate the aircraft's systems simulation. It works best when the underlying frame rate is already stable; a low or erratic base rate can still produce latency, display artefacts and cockpit judder.

What if Fenix performance suddenly becomes worse?
A sudden loss is more likely to be a changed setting, add-on conflict or failed supporting process than the aircraft's normal performance cost. Restart Microsoft Flight Simulator and the Fenix companion software, then repeat your controlled test.
- Check whether an update reset render scaling, traffic or Level of Detail settings.
- Remove a newly installed airport, livery or traffic package from the test.
- Confirm that a laptop is using its discrete GPU and an appropriate power mode.
- Look for duplicate or orphaned Fenix-related processes after a crash.
- Compare a default airport and clear weather with the same aircraft state.
Cache deletion should not be the first response to sustained low FPS. It can help a specific corrupted-data problem, but it will not cure a genuine CPU, GPU or VRAM limit.
