How do I increase menu and text size in MSFS 2024?

Ian Stephens
In short

Increase menu and text size in MSFS 2024 with Menu UI Scale, plus fixes for tiny toolbar panels, cropped edges and blurry cockpit text.

In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, open Settings, search for Menu UI Scale, raise the value, then apply and save the change. This enlarges most menus, toolbar panels, notifications and interface text on PC and consoles. It does not enlarge cockpit labels or the text drawn inside many avionics displays.

How do I change Menu UI Scale?

The safest method is to search for the setting because its category can move between simulator updates and platforms.

  1. Open Settings from the main menu. This is a general interface option, not a control binding.
  2. Search for Menu UI Scale. It is normally grouped with accessibility or interface options.
  3. Increase the value gradually. Check the preview or return to a menu after each adjustment; an excessive scale can cause wrapped labels or controls to extend beyond the screen.
  4. Apply and save the change. Close and reopen any toolbar panels that were already displayed, as an open panel may not resize immediately.

The same control is the one to look for on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PS5 Pro, although the surrounding menu layout can differ.

What does Menu UI Scale enlarge?

Menu UI Scale changes the simulator's two-dimensional interface rather than every piece of text visible in the aircraft.

Interface elementEffect of Menu UI Scale
Main menus and settingsText, buttons and many other controls become larger.
Top toolbar and built-in panelsIcons and panel contents usually become larger, subject to each panel's layout limits.
Notifications, subtitles and tooltipsSome respond to UI scale; use their dedicated size setting when one is provided.
Cockpit labels and switch markingsNo change; these are normally part of the 3D cockpit or its textures.
Glass-cockpit and avionics textUsually no change because it is rendered by the instrument.
Third-party aircraft and panelsDepends on the add-on; some provide their own scaling control.

If the top bar is the specific problem, our closer explanation of toolbar and panel scaling covers the practical limits of enlarging those elements.

Why is cockpit or avionics text still small?

Menu UI Scale cannot enlarge text rendered inside the 3D cockpit. Move the cockpit camera closer or use a moderate camera zoom for physical labels; for a supported glass display, popping it into a separate resizable window can also improve readability.

Keep the simulator at the display's native resolution where performance allows. Lowering resolution is not a good substitute for interface scaling because it commonly makes instrument lettering soft without fixing the underlying size problem. An aircraft-specific tablet or avionics package may also have its own font or zoom controls.

What if larger menus are cropped off-screen?

Reduce Menu UI Scale slightly, then check the display's safe area or overscan rather than lowering the rendering resolution. Safe area moves the usable interface away from the screen edges; it does not make the text larger.

On Xbox and television displays, follow our steps for fixing cropped MSFS menus with safe-area settings. On PC, confirm that the monitor or television is showing the full image without overscan. PlayStation users should likewise check the console's display-area setting and the television's picture-size mode.

What if the text is larger but blurry?

Blurriness is usually a resolution or render-scaling issue, not a Menu UI Scale problem. Use the panel's native resolution, avoid unnecessarily low render scale, and check that television sharpening or scaling is not distorting fine lettering. Our checks for fuzzy flight-simulator text cover those settings without confusing them with interface size.

What if Menu UI Scale does nothing?

First confirm that the new value was applied rather than discarded when leaving Settings. Close and reopen existing toolbar panels, then restart the simulator once if the main interface still has not changed.

If menus become larger but cockpit text does not, the setting is working as designed. If no interface element changes and the value reverts, make the adjustment under the same signed-in profile used for flying and verify that it remains selected after returning to Settings.
