Which PMDG aircraft are compatible with MSFS 2024?

Adam McEnroe
In short

See which PMDG 737 and 777 aircraft work in MSFS 2024, plus the installer, variant, licence and console checks that prevent failed installs.

PMDG’s 737NG and 777 families are compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 when the exact aircraft package provides an MSFS 2024 build. That includes the 737-600, -700, -800 and -900 packages, plus the 777-300ER and 777F. Do not assume PMDG’s entire catalogue is compatible.

Which PMDG aircraft work in MSFS 2024?

The practical compatibility list covers these PMDG airliner packages, provided their installer or Marketplace entry explicitly names MSFS 2024:

PMDG familyAircraft packagesCompatibility requirement
737NG737-600, 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900Install the build intended for MSFS 2024 rather than copying the MSFS 2020 installation.
777777-300ER and 777FUse the package version that explicitly supports MSFS 2024. Check any other 777 variant separately.
Other PMDG aircraftDC-6, 747 products and any additional releasesDo not infer support from the PMDG name. The exact product must list MSFS 2024 as a supported simulator.

Compatibility here means a publisher-supported MSFS 2024 build, not merely an older aircraft appearing in the selector or loading through the simulator’s backward-compatibility layer. Our comparison of leading MSFS 2024 add-on aircraft explains how the PMDG 737 and 777 suit different types of flying.

Is every PMDG 737 or 777 variant compatible?

No; compatibility is attached to the individual package, variant, platform and distribution channel. A working 737-800 does not prove that a separately purchased 737-700 package, livery pack or utility has the same support status.

The same rule applies within the 777 range. If a variant is not named in the installer or product entry as compatible with MSFS 2024, treat it as unconfirmed rather than assuming that family compatibility covers it.

How do I install the correct PMDG version?

On PC, select Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as the installation target and let the supported installer place the files in the correct location.

  1. Identify the exact package: check the aircraft variant, purchase channel and platform rather than relying on the family name.
  2. Confirm MSFS 2024 support: look for an explicit 2024 installation option or compatibility statement in the package library.
  3. Update before installing: apply the aircraft and Operations Center updates offered for that package. Our PMDG Operations Center instructions cover installation, updates and simulator selection.
  4. Avoid manual migration: do not copy a PMDG aircraft wholesale from the MSFS 2020 Community folder into the MSFS 2024 Community folder.
  5. Test without extras: if the aircraft has blank displays, missing textures or a loading failure, remove old liveries and modifications before reinstalling the base aircraft.

A mistake we see constantly is treating an aircraft, its liveries and its supporting utilities as one compatibility unit. The aircraft may be supported while an old livery, sound modification or configuration file is not.

Does owning the MSFS 2020 version include MSFS 2024?

Ownership and compatibility are separate questions, so do not repurchase until you have checked the entitlement attached to your package. The available upgrade or installer can differ between direct PC purchases and Marketplace purchases.

An MSFS 2020 package appearing in your library does not prove that its 2024 build is installed. Our broader explanation of how MSFS 2020 add-ons transfer to MSFS 2024 covers the Community folder, Marketplace library and backward-compatibility distinction.

Do PMDG aircraft work on Xbox and PlayStation 5?

Console compatibility must be confirmed through the Marketplace listing for the exact console platform. A PMDG aircraft being compatible with the PC edition of MSFS 2024 does not establish Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 availability, and a PC installer cannot be used on either console.

The simulator edition—Standard, Deluxe or Premium Deluxe—is usually not the deciding factor. The aircraft package, platform listing and licence attached to the account are what matter.
