Instrument coverage concentrated on two ends

Northern Colorado Regional’s four approach plates cover only two of its four runway ends. They provide ILS and localiser guidance alongside RNAV (GPS) and VOR procedures, giving the served ends a mixture of precision and non-precision options. The runway layout is notably uneven: at 8,500 ft, runway 15/33 provides nearly four times the available length of the 2,189 ft runway 06/24, sharply distinguishing their practical roles for aircraft requiring more runway.

Regional chart context

Greeley-Weld County and Rocky Mountain Metro have comparably broad chart sets, while Vance Brand is thinner and Erie Municipal much thinner. Denver International’s 125 charts form a substantially larger set. The Cheyenne Sectional supplies wider VFR context, while the Denver Terminal Area Chart adds more detailed coverage around the airport than the instrument procedures provide.

Common questions about KFNL

What charts are available for KFNL?

42 current FAA charts for Northern Colorado Rgnl, including 4 instrument approachs, 17 departure procedures, 18 arrival procedures, 1 airport diagram. All are free to download as PDFs from this page, from the 6 August 2026 cycle.

What are the radio frequencies for KFNL?

Ground 121.65; ATIS 135.075; CTAF 118.4; Clearance delivery 120.25. Full civil VHF list, with sector notes, is in the frequencies table on this page — from the FAA NASR subscription.

How long is the runway at KFNL?

Northern Colorado Rgnl has 2 runways. The longest is 15/33 at 8,500 ft by 100 ft, asphalt. Full runway dimensions, lighting and approach aids are listed on this page.

Does KFNL have an ILS approach?

Yes — 1 ILS procedure is published. In total KFNL has 4 published instrument approaches, of which 2 are RNAV (GPS).

Where can I download the KFNL airport diagram?

The official FAA airport diagram for Northern Colorado Rgnl is free to download at the top of this page. It shows runways, taxiways, ramp layout and hold-short positions, and is reissued every 28 days.

How high is KFNL?

The field elevation is 5,020 ft. At that height the air is thin enough to matter: take-off and landing distances are longer than the same aircraft would need at sea level, and the effect worsens as temperature rises. The approach charts carry the altitudes that apply.

Is KFNL a towered airport?

Yes. Northern Colorado Rgnl has an operating control tower, within Denver Center's airspace. Tower, ground and clearance frequencies are listed on this page.

Are these KFNL charts current?

They are from the FAA cycle effective 6 August 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. We publish each new cycle on its effective date. They are for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.
