Approach and runway coverage

Wilmington International’s two runways are served in all four directions, with ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures rather than instrument access concentrated on one end. The seven ILS entries make precision guidance the dominant element of the approach set, while localiser and satellite-based procedures add further coverage. Both asphalt runways exceed 7,700 ft and differ by only 262 ft, so changing alignment does not entail moving to a substantially shorter runway.

Nearby chart coverage

New River MCAS provides the closest comparison in breadth, with 11 charts against Wilmington’s 16. The remaining nearby airports have only three to six charts each, making their published procedure sets markedly thinner. The Charlotte Sectional adds regional visual-navigation and airspace context beyond the airport-specific terminal procedures.
