All eight ends of JFK’s four runways have published approach coverage. The mix includes ILS, RNAV (GPS), VOR and localiser procedures, plus a helicopter approach; three ILS procedures carry CAT II/III minima. Coverage is therefore spread across both runway alignments rather than concentrated on one preferred end. With no runway shorter than 8,400 ft and the longest extending to 14,511 ft, the runway system offers substantial length across several ends rather than relying on a single long strip.
LaGuardia has chart coverage of similar breadth, while Newark Liberty’s set is larger. Teterboro and Republic have appreciably fewer charts, and Linden’s coverage is much thinner. The New York Sectional adds regional VFR context, the Terminal Area Chart provides closer terminal detail, and the Helicopter Route Chart supplies routing information specific to helicopter operations.
