Chicago Midway’s procedure set serves five of its eight runway ends, so instrument approach coverage is selective rather than symmetrical. The mix of ILS, localiser and RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-based options. Three runways are between 5,507 and 6,522 ft long, while 13R/31L is materially shorter at 3,859 ft; that difference makes runway assignment significant for aircraft requiring more distance.
Chicago O’Hare has by far the broadest nearby procedure set. Gary/Chicago and Lewis University are closer to Midway in chart coverage, while Lansing Municipal is thinner and Bolingbrook’s Clow International has only minimal published coverage. For visual flying, the Chicago Sectional supplies wider-area context, the Terminal Area Chart adds detail around Chicago, and the Helicopter Route Chart provides the specialised route depiction absent from the instrument procedures.

4, which is why the chart set is as large as it is — each runway end that supports an instrument approach needs its own plates. The runway diagram on this page shows the layout to scale.
