O’Hare’s 71 approach plates serve 15 of its 16 runway ends, with multiple procedures available for many alignments. The set is dominated by ILS procedures, including 14 with CAT II/III minima, while RNAV (GPS) and localiser options add further procedural depth. Eight runways provide several east–west alignments, including four measuring at least 10,800 ft; the remaining runways are no shorter than 7,500 ft.
Among nearby fields, Chicago Midway has the broadest chart coverage, followed by DuPage and Chicago Executive. Bolingbrook’s Clow and Campbell have much thinner sets, with only two charts each. The Chicago Sectional supplies wider visual context, the Terminal Area Chart gives more detailed coverage around Chicago, and the Helicopter Route Chart adds routing information specific to helicopter operations.
