Approach and runway coverage

Provo’s two approach plates concentrate all instrument approach coverage on one runway end. Together they provide ILS/localiser and RNAV (GPS) options, so the choice of approach technology is broader than the number of served ends. The two runway alignments are both substantial in length: even the shorter extends 6,628 ft, while 13/31 adds almost 2,000 ft rather than leaving one dominant strip and a token secondary runway.

Local chart context

Spanish Fork, only 5 nm away, has the nearest comparable procedure set, though it remains thinner than Provo’s. Heber Valley, South Valley Regional and Nephi have smaller sets, while Salt Lake City International is the clear regional outlier with much broader chart coverage. The Salt Lake City Sectional supplies wider-area VFR context; the Terminal Area Chart adds greater detail around the terminal area than the instrument procedures provide.
