Santa Monica’s four approaches serve both ends of its only conventional runway, so instrument coverage is not confined to one direction. Three are RNAV (GPS) and one is VOR, making the set strongly GPS-led while retaining a conventional procedure. Departure material is more extensive, with seven DPs plus an ODP. At 3,500 ft, runway 03/21 provides no longer fixed-wing runway or alternative alignment; the separate H1 is 40 ft.
Los Angeles International has far broader procedure coverage. Van Nuys and Bob Hope are closest to Santa Monica in chart breadth, while Hawthorne Municipal and Zamperini Field have distinctly thinner sets. The Los Angeles Terminal Area Chart adds focused VFR context around the airport, while the Los Angeles Sectional supplies the wider regional picture.
