AFCAD File Update For CYVR

Vancouver International Airport (CYVR) gets a refined AFCAD for the FSX default scenery, offering a choice of standard operations or an optional crosswind setup that enables all four runways for takeoff and landing. Expect updated taxiways and signs, accurate parking with added gates including A380 space, extra service traffic, rebuilt vehicle roads, helipad starts, and improved tower views.

This airport update is for CYVR with two optional files made only for the FSX default airport: one version with the Crosswind runway activated where all 4 runways will be used for takeoff/landing and one version as the default runway operation: assigned parking as per their website with extra parking including a gate for the A380, extra fuel trucks, taxiways and taxi signs updated to the latest charts, start locations added to two of the helipads, support vehicle roads rebuilt and many other improvements, airport views are from the roof of the control tower (when in tower view) please view the readme before installation. There are 4 BGL files: CYVR_RS.BGL, CYVR_CW_RS.BGL, CYVR_CVX.bgl and a CYVR_OBJ.BGL file.

Runway Operation Files:

  • The CYVR_CW_RS.BGL file is with the Xwind runway activated where all 4 runways will be used simultaneously.
  • The CYVR_RS.BGL file is the same as the default runway operation.
  • Assigned parking is the same in both files.

To Install:

If you are using my earlier version please remove/delete these files first or overwrite them, if you would rather keep them remove them to another folder not associated with FSX.

  1. Take the runway operation file of your choice (only one) and the CYVR_CVX.BGL and place both of these files into: Flight Simulator X/Addon Scenery/scenery folder.
  2. Take the CYVR_OBJ.BGL and place this file into: Flight Simulator X/Scenery/Global/scenery folder.
  3. Start up the Flight Sim and the changes will be present.

IMPORTANT NOTE: PLEASE ONLY USE ONE RUNWAY OPERATION FILE AT ANY TIME:

I.E. Make sure there is only ONE of the CYVR_RS.BGL FILES and the CYVR_CVX.bgl file in the Addon Scenery/scenery folder at any time, remove/delete any other CYVR.bgl to avoid incorrect parking and other airport conflicts.

If you have any AI Traffic Addons please make sure they have "NOT" installed another AFCAD for this airport as this will also cause a conflict.

PLEASE NOTE: when using ATIS with the CYVR_CW_RS.BGL file you will hear the fake runways as well as the airport runways, this is the method used in activating non parallel runways and should be ignored or if preferred use the version CYVR_RS.BGL.

To Uninstall:

  1. Delete/remove the BGL files and the default airport will then be active.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D AFCAD file

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place AFCAD file

    AFCAD files (AF2_*.bgl or AFX_*.bgl) go into FSX\Addon Scenery\Scenery\ or a dedicated AFCAD folder you create.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
