FS2004 G-44 Widgeon Update

Grumman G-44 Widgeon update for FS2004 refines the flight dynamics and panel for more accurate handling. Corrected landing gear contact points, improved toe brake sensitivity for steadier taxiing, and revised Hartzell-based propeller parameters boost control, especially on the radial version, while a properly sized GPS cleans up the virtual cockpit layout.

An update for the Grumman G-44 Widgeon (G44_20.ZIP) to correct the FDE's and the panel. The FDE's correct issues with the landing gear contact points, toe brake sensitivity and propeller parameters. The panel.cfg corrects a mis-sized GPS. By Michael Verlin.

Both versions had problems with the landing gear contact points. These were not so severe as to make them obviously un-flyable, but enough to be troublesome. I had erroneously assumed, since I wasn't able to alter the visual models, that these contact points did not require attention. This was not the case. In any event, they are now fixed.

Taxi issues on land. I have increased the sensitivity of the toe brakes to make the aircraft (both versions) easier to control when operating from land.

Propeller parameters. Again both aircraft have had adjustments performed to the propellers. I got copies of the Type Certificate Data sheet for the G-44, and applied the specifications of the prop manufacturer (Hartzell).

This is especially noticeable in the case of the radial powered version. It has been rendered much more controllable. There is so much power on hand for this version, that it will easily rotate when operating from a runway at 25 inches of manifold pressure. On water, this will vary according to conditions.

The GPS was not sized properly in the panel as uploaded. This has been fixed.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FS2004 add-on
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Place files per readme

    FS2004 add-ons go into FS9\Aircraft\, FS9\Addon Scenery\, FS9\Gauges\, or FS9\Effects\.
  3. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
