Embark on an authentic virtual journey over Lyon, France's third-largest city, with the Lyon City Complete Scenery add-on. Meticulously crafted using advanced photogrammetry, this add-on breathes life into your Microsoft Flight Simulator experience, presenting Lyon in stunning detail.
Photogrammetry: The Backbone of Realism
Photogrammetry, a process where photographs are used to create 3D models of real-world objects and landscapes, serves as the core of this scenery mod. This technology transforms aerial or terrestrial images into precise, three-dimensional replicas, offering pilots an immersive and realistic flying experience over Lyon.
Features
- Detailed Recreation of Lyon: Explore Lyon's famous landmarks, from the historic Old Lyon to the modern Confluence district, all rendered with accuracy.
- Enhanced Visual Fidelity: Improved colorimetry and fixed lighting issues, especially noticeable at dusk and dawn, provide a lifelike visual experience.
- Two Versions for Different Systems: Choose between the HD version for high-end machines or the standard version for lower-end systems, ensuring optimal performance.
- Continuous Updates: The add-on includes several updates, enhancing details in the Confluence district, reducing file size, and correcting 3D model positioning and typographical errors in POIs (Points of Interest).
Installation and Requirements
Installation is straightforward. For the HD version, place the thalixte-lyon-hd1
and thalixte-lyon-hd2
folders into your MSFS Community folder. For less powerful systems, use the thalixte-lyon
folder instead. Ensure both HD packages are installed for the scenery to display correctly.
About Lyon
Lyon, situated at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, boasts a rich history and a vibrant cultural scene. From its roots as a major Roman city to its modern status as a banking and technological hub, Lyon's diverse heritage is now yours to explore from the skies. Notably, the city's role in cinema history and its annual Fête des Lumières are captured in this scenic package.
Credits and Acknowledgments
This scenery owes its realism to Google Maps' 3D data, processed through the Google Earth Decoder tool, and enhanced with a specialized colors light pack. The meticulous work of these tools and their developers is what makes this virtual representation of Lyon so compelling.
The pack is a testament to the wonders of photogrammetry and the dedication of flight simulation enthusiasts. Whether you're flying a casual route or undertaking a detailed study of Lyon's urban landscape, this add-on is an indispensable part of your MSFS library.
