Expert Overview

Lausanne Photogrammetry Scenery brings Switzerland’s charming sports and culture hub to life with intricate 3D modeling that captures the city’s architectural uniqueness, from the lakeside views to the iconic European Polytechnic University campus. Built using advanced photogrammetry, this add-on offers impressive detail and optimized performance, ensuring smooth low-level exploration without compromising frame rates—even in busy downtown areas.

Fully compatible with World Update 6, it seamlessly integrates new Points of Interest and enhanced LOD management, presenting a realistic tapestry of Lausanne’s terrain, topography, and nighttime lighting. Having personally tested it, I appreciate its stunning immersion and how it transforms each approach into an unforgettable scenic journey, whether departing from Lausanne-Blécherette Airport or sweeping in from Geneva Airport’s international runways.

About Photogrammetry Scenery

Photogrammetry in flight simulation refers to the process of scanning real-world objects and environments to create 3D models with high precision. This technique captures the essence and detail of locations, transforming them into immersive digital replicas for pilots to explore. The Lausanne Photogrammetry Scenery leverages this technology to offer unparalleled realism, inviting pilots to experience the beauty of Lausanne as if they were truly there.

Recommended Airports for Departure and Arrival

Immerse yourself in the Lausanne scenery by taking off or landing at these nearby airports:

  • Lausanne-Blécherette Airport (LSGL) - A gateway to the city, perfect for starting or concluding your exploration of the Lausanne area. Its proximity offers pilots a unique view of the urban and lakeside landscapes.
  • Geneva Airport (LSGG) - Located approximately 62 kilometers southwest of Lausanne, offering a larger international hub for those seeking to explore the broader region of Western Switzerland.

Installation Instructions

To install, first ensure any previous versions of the Lausanne scenery are removed. Download the archive, extract it, and then copy the thalixte-lausanne folder into the Community folder of your Microsoft Flight Simulator directory.  Note: If you are using the RED WING LHSV add-on, then please use the thalixte-lausanne-lhsv folder to ensure compatibility. Restart the simulator to apply the changes and embark on your flight over the stunning cityscape of Lausanne.

Addressing Known Issues

While the scenery captures Lausanne in its winter glory, some seasonal discrepancies, such as leafless photogrammetry trees, may be noticed. Additionally, traffic flow within the old town may not perfectly mimic real-world patterns. These minor issues aside, the mod delivers a breathtaking and highly accurate flying experience.
