FSX Quebec Shorelines Scenery

Quebec Shorelines Scenery redraws lakes, rivers, and shoreline detail across Quebec, Canada, with dedicated coverage of the Baie James hydroelectric complex territory for sharper coastal definition and more believable inland water features in FSX. It includes custom scenery BGLs plus an effects file, and pairs well with a matching 38 m terrain mesh for best results.

Installation:

1) Extract the zipped file to a temporary directory, making sure that the "use folder names" option is enabled.

When the file is unzipped you should see a folder, called "QcLacs_BJ_FSX", with two subfolders : "Scenery" and "Effets".
-"QcLacs_BJ_FSX" contains this readme file, animations and map.
-"Scenery" contains BGL files. Labeled by NW corner coordinates or name.
-"Effets" contains the effect file.

2) Move the file in "Effets" subfolder in the FSX "Effects" subfolder.

3) Move the "QcLacs_BJ_FSX" folder wherever you keep your add-on sceneries.

4) Activate the "QcLacs_BJ_FSX" scenery in Flight Simulator X Scenery Library.

Remarks:

The lakes in "_Lacs_" files have not an fixed elevation. And then, their edge can lightly climb along the sides. To minimize this effect, use my FSX 38m (Lod10) terrain mesh files of this territory (Qc38mBJ_FSX). They come from the same source of data.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D scenery

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place scenery in Addon Scenery

    Create a folder under FSX\Addon Scenery\ containing scenery and texture sub-folders.

  3. Activate in Scenery Library

    In FSX, go to Settings → Scenery Library → Add Area. Higher priority means it overrides lower entries for the same location.

  4. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
