Beginning in the spring of 1942, the RCAF Army Co-operation squadrons began flying the new Mustang fighter. The RCAF flew P-51s throughout the war. Shortly after the war ended in 1945, the RCAF received 100 P-51D Mustangs from the USA. These were placed in service with the regular squadrons (until being replaced by Vampires and Sabres during 1949 and 1950) and also with auxiliary squadrons. The Mustangs served with the auxiliary units until 1956, when they had all been replaced by Vampires, and then by T-33s and Sabres. Some were also flown by the Central Experimental and Proving Establishment at Rockcliffe and some as fighter-bombers at the Canadian Joint Air Training Centre at Rivers, Manitoba.

The repaint shows C-FBAU 9567 in 424 'City of Hamilton' Squadron markings. Its original serial number was 73140, transferred to the RCAF as 9567. After RCAF service it appears that this aircraft became N51N, and in 1981 C-FBAU. However, C-FBAU crashed in Ontario Jul 7, 1984, the two occupants escaping unhurt, but it appears that the aircraft was destroyed by fire with only the starboard horizontal stabiliser salvageable.

INSTALLATION:

1. Unzip RCAF_BAU.zip.ZIP, then copy the TEXTURE.9567 folder into your WWII_FIGHTERS_P51D folder (usually C:/Program Files/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/SimObjects/Airplanes/WWII_FIGHTERS_P51D).

2. Copy the following lines into the AIRCRAFT.CFG file in the WWII_FIGHTERS_P51D folder, replacing the fltsim.XX with the next number in sequence.

Most FSX add-ons go into one of: SimObjects\Airplanes\, Addon Scenery\, Effects\, or Gauges\.
  3. Always read the included readme
