FSX B-26 Gascogne Black

This repaint showcases the B-26 Invader “Gascogne” in a historically inspired black paint scheme, referencing operations during 1952 in Indochine at Tourane and Haiphong Cat Bi. Designed specifically for the freeware Sim Outhouse Douglas A-26 Invader base package available in the Fly Away Simulation library, it depicts tactical markings linked to the 1/19 “Gascogne” group. Created by developer Martial Feron, this release gives enthusiasts of Microsoft Flight Simulator X a chance to experience a unique rendition of this classic twin-engine platform without any additional costs.

The B-26 Invader and Known Service

The Douglas A-26 (later designated B-26) Invader was widely used as a light bomber and attack aircraft, powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-2800 air-cooled radial engines. It excelled in tactical roles and delivered reliable performance across multiple theaters. During operations in Indochina, certain groups such as 1/19 “Gascogne” were deployed at forward bases, including Tourane and Haiphong Cat Bi, to support varied mission requirements. This repaint reflects the specific markings associated with those missions and emphasizes the distinctly dark fuselage finish.

Note: The texture files are adaptable to the “B26K” model if you prefer. However, the repaint was primarily built for the A-26 package from Sim Outhouse. In either case, you’ll need the freeware base model.

Installation Procedure

1. Extract all contents of the downloaded ZIP file into a temporary folder of your choice.
2. Relocate the folder named texture.Gascogne into your main a26_soh folder.
3. Open the aircraft.cfg file inside the a26_soh folder and add the provided configuration entry below, adjusting [fltsim.xx] to the next available number.
4. Save your changes and close the file. Once these steps are complete, the new repaint should be available within your simulator.
