This enhanced repaint for the Arado Ar-96b brings a historically inspired Luftwaffe Schlachtgeschwader 102 scheme to Microsoft Flight Simulator X. The real Arado Ar-96 was designed as a single-engine advanced trainer for Luftwaffe pilots, and this particular livery references operations in the Deutsch Brod region, which is the modern-day Havlickuv Brod in the Czech Republic. Created by Jindrich Barta, this freeware package contains only the textures. You must acquire the base Arado Ar-96b model separately from the Fly Away Simulation library. Utilize the provided aircraft.cfg entries to integrate the livery correctly.
Key Texture Details and Compatibility
- Repaint only: The file AR96C2.ZIP is required for the base model.
- Authentic markings: Reflects the Luftwaffe’s Schlachtgeschwader 102 stationed at Deutsch Brod.
- Optimized for FSX: Developed to blend seamlessly with the Arado Ar-96b freeware model.
Installation Steps
- Download and install the required freeware base model (AR96C2.ZIP) into your
SimObject/Airplanes
folder. - Extract this repaint package and copy the texture folder named texture=GORY into the Arado Ar-96b folder.
- Locate the aircraft.cfg in the same Ar-96b directory and append the following entry (replacing X with the next available fltsim number):
[fltsim.X] title=Arado Ar 96B GORY sim=arado96 model= panel= sound= texture=GORY KB_checklists= atc_id= atc_airline= atc_flight_number= atc_heavy=0 ui_manufacturer=Arado ui_type=Ar-96b GO+RY ui_variation=Ar-96b Schlachtgeschwader 102 Deutsch Brod description=
Historical Note
The Luftwaffe deployed the Arado Ar-96 primarily for advanced flight training due to its approachable flight characteristics and practical design. Its stationing at Schlachtgeschwader 102 in Deutsch Brod, an area now recognized as Havlickuv Brod in the Czech Republic, reflects its operational reach. Enthusiasts can appreciate both this aircraft’s instructional heritage and its representation in a virtual environment.
