Beech was looking for a new generation of corporate transports. They looked to Burt Rutan's Scaled Composites Inc. to design and produce the SCAT1, an 85% scale technology demonstrator of a conard-configured aircraft. Successing in testing led to the Model 2000 Starship 1. The first of 3 flying pre-production Starship 1s flew on Feburary 15, 1986. After flying and statice tests, the first production machine flew on April 25, 1989. Created with FSDS 2.10. This model features reflective textures. This FS9 model has been modified to work in FSX.

Editorial
As far as my memories of aircraft go, one of my main memories is of the Beechcraft ‘Starship’ version; when I was a fair bit younger than I am today, it was one of the pinnacles of aviation at the time. As someone who was just getting into this kind of thing at the turn of the 1980s, it was really exciting to learn of these kinds of aircraft.
Something Fresh
I was looking to get a new generation of high-end corporate transports into my flight simulation experience, and I was absolutely delighted when I came across this awesome remake of the old Beechcraft Starship. I decided to give it a go and download it hoping that my old nostalgia would not be rocked too much.
This was a proper part of the next generation of Beechcraft that made them so popular today, as they looked at various ways to improve their position in the 80s. The Starship was one of their projects, and the aircraft itself soon became a bit of a legend in its own right. Testing began and before long this conard-configured machine was in the skies.
Although the aircraft might not hold the same attention of detail and depth today that it did back then, it was still a major part of aviation history and made a big name for the Beechcraft group become even bigger.
Hugely Detailed
The model itself, though, was the most impressive thing. With awesome reflective textures that look authentic and detailed rather than cheap and nasty, this does a wonderful job of capturing the details of the proper Starship and making it stand out from the crowd.
It’s got the brilliant design and features that you would hope to see from a professional mod like this, whilst also making sure that it carries all of the features and extras that made the original model jump out.
I was hugely impressed by the attention to detail in the way that the aircraft flew, too. From reading into various factors about the real thing I soon found out that it has a major range of additions and improvements to both the model and the cockpit to bring it to life in proper fashion. All of the little features that you would hope to see are added in such as working gauges and various other major improvements to get help you get the best quality of flight possible.
The Verdict
In short, if you are a fan of this aircraft (like me) and want to fly a genuine attempt at properly remaking it, start here. The quality and depth of the product is well worth remembering, giving you a fresh and easy to understand way of using one of the most engaging aircraft of its day in a modern simulator.
