Adjust the cockpit seat and pilot view in MSFS 2024: move the eyepoint in six directions, reset it, save it and fix unresponsive controls.
In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, select Cockpit Camera mode, then use the cockpit camera translation bindings to move the pilot eyepoint up, down, left, right, forward or backward. Use Reset Cockpit View to restore the aircraft’s default position. Do not use zoom: it changes field of view, not the seat position.
How do I move the cockpit seat up, down or forward?
- Enter Cockpit Camera mode. The translation commands will not reposition an external or showcase camera. If necessary, follow our instructions for returning to the cockpit camera in MSFS 2024.
- Open the Controls screen. Select the keyboard, controller or flight-control device you intend to use, then confirm that you are editing its active profile.
- Show all available commands. A filter that displays assigned controls only can hide the commands you need.
- Search for cockpit camera movement. Look for commands named along the lines of
Increase Cockpit View Height,Decrease Cockpit View Height, andTranslate Cockpit Viewforward, backward, left and right. Labels can differ slightly between input profiles. - Assign convenient buttons or keys. Also bind
Reset Cockpit View. Save or apply the control profile before returning to the aircraft. - Reset, then make small adjustments. Set the height first, move forward or backward for the desired distance from the panel, and use left or right to align with the correct seat.
The method is the same on PC, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, but default assignments differ by device and control preset. Checking the active profile is more reliable than following a keyboard or controller chart from another installation.
Which control moves the seat rather than the camera view?
Cockpit translation changes the virtual location of the pilot’s eyes; looking and zooming change something else.

How do I reset or save the pilot position?
Reset Cockpit View restores the aircraft’s normal cockpit eyepoint. On some standard keyboard profiles it is assigned to Ctrl+Space, but verify the binding because imported and customised profiles can replace it.
Once the height, translation, viewing angle and zoom are correct, save them to a custom cockpit camera slot. Treat these views as aircraft-specific, since one position rarely suits different cockpit geometries.
Why do the cockpit position controls do nothing?
Unresponsive seat controls usually mean the wrong camera mode, device profile or command filter is active.
- Wrong camera mode: return to Cockpit Camera rather than external, showcase or walkaround mode.
- Commands are hidden: change the control search filter so it displays unassigned as well as assigned commands.
- Wrong profile: MSFS 2024 maintains separate profiles for each keyboard, controller, joystick and throttle. Confirm that the binding was added to the device you are actually pressing.
- Input focus is elsewhere: close a control-search box, EFB text field or other interface element that is capturing keyboard input.
- Conflicting bindings: remove any duplicate command that triggers a quick view, camera reset or another camera action from the same input.
- Head tracking is active: pause and centre the tracker before adjusting the base viewpoint if it keeps pulling the view away.
- The aircraft has reached its camera boundary: some cockpits restrict movement to prevent the camera passing through the model. Reset the view and approach the desired position from smaller increments.
VR uses headset tracking and a recentered VR origin rather than only the flat-screen cockpit eyepoint. Use the dedicated procedure for recentering and adjusting the pilot position in MSFS VR if the headset view is too high, low or offset.
