Check Aerosoft CRJ compatibility with MSFS 2024, which build you need, why old installs fail and how to avoid broken cockpit systems.
No—not automatically. The original Aerosoft CRJ 550/700 and 900/1000 packages made for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 should not be treated as supported in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Use it only when an installer or build explicitly names MSFS 2024; appearing in My Library, or loading into a flight, is not proof of compatibility.
Which Aerosoft CRJ version works with MSFS 2024?
Only a CRJ build explicitly marked for MSFS 2024 should be installed in that simulator. If the installer, product listing or release notes mention only Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the practical answer is no: treat that build as unsupported in 2024.
| CRJ package or build | MSFS 2024 verdict |
|---|---|
| Aerosoft CRJ build labelled only for MSFS 2020 | Do not assume compatibility; wait for or obtain an explicitly supported build |
| Build whose installer or listing explicitly includes MSFS 2024 | Use the supplied installation method and check its platform requirements |
| Older Aerosoft CRJ made for FSX or Prepar3D | Not compatible and cannot be converted by copying its aircraft folder |
MSFS 2024 can run many packages created for the 2020 simulator, but complex aircraft need their systems, gauges and supporting modules checked by the developer. Our explanation of why MSFS 2020 add-ons need explicit MSFS 2024 support covers that distinction.
If your CRJ 900/1000 package is an expansion requiring the 550/700 base product, both parts must be compatible with MSFS 2024. Do not combine a 2024-ready expansion with a 2020-only base. Licence ownership is separate from compatibility, too: owning the earlier release does not by itself make a newer build available or supported.
Why can the CRJ appear in My Library but still be broken?
MSFS 2024 can catalogue an aircraft package even when its gauges, executable modules or system logic are incompatible. Library recognition and a visible exterior model do not verify the complete aircraft.
Typical signs of a partially compatible installation include:
- dark or frozen cockpit displays;
- an FMS that never initialises or rejects normal input;
- missing sounds, animations or cockpit interactions;
- throttle, steering or autopilot behaviour that cannot be corrected through bindings;
- a loading hang or crash when selecting the aircraft.
These faults are not fixed by editing package manifests or repeatedly copying the old aircraft folder. Navdata can affect procedures and database contents, but it cannot repair incompatible aircraft code.
How should I install a compatible CRJ build?
Start with one clean, explicitly compatible package and verify it before adding liveries or navdata.
- Identify the exact build. Check the simulator and platform named by its installer or library entry rather than relying on the Aerosoft CRJ product name alone.
- Remove duplicate copies. Move any older CRJ folders out of
Community. Two versions of the same aircraft can overwrite resources or cause package conflicts. - Update the simulator. Install any pending MSFS 2024 updates correctly before diagnosing the aircraft.
- Use the supplied installation route. Run the installer intended for MSFS 2024 or install the compatible Marketplace package. Do not copy files from an MSFS 2020
OfficialorCommunityfolder. - Test the aircraft cleanly. Remove unrelated add-ons temporarily, select a default CRJ livery and check the displays, FMS, controls, sounds and autopilot during a short test flight.
- Restore extras individually. Add liveries and navdata only after the base aircraft works. If the aircraft is sound but its navigation database needs attention, follow our instructions for setting up Navigraph with MSFS 2024.
Can the Aerosoft CRJ be installed on Xbox or PlayStation 5?
A Windows installer or Community-folder package cannot be installed directly on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5. Console users need a Marketplace package explicitly released for MSFS 2024 and their platform; a PC purchase or PC-compatible build does not establish console availability.
Do older Aerosoft CRJs for FSX or Prepar3D work?
No; Aerosoft CRJ products built for FSX or Prepar3D cannot be installed directly in MSFS 2024. Their gauges, models and installers target older simulator architectures, so moving their folders into Community will not convert them. See our breakdown of why legacy FSX and Prepar3D add-ons cannot be copied into modern MSFS for the technical distinction.
