What Airbus A350 add-ons are available for X-Plane 12?

Adam McEnroe
In short

See the main Airbus A350 add-on for X-Plane 12, plus A350-1000 mods, liveries, freeware limits, compatibility checks and install fixes.

For X-Plane 12, the main complete Airbus A350 add-on is the payware FlightFactor A350 XWB Advanced, centred on the A350-900. Liveries, sound packs and community variant modifications are also available, but they usually require that base aircraft. Older freeware A350s are not dependable substitutes for a native X-Plane 12 package.

Which A350 aircraft can you use in X-Plane 12?

The FlightFactor A350 XWB Advanced is the only widely established complete payware A350 choice for X-Plane 12. Use a release explicitly marked as supporting X-Plane 12 rather than installing an old archived X-Plane 11 build.

OptionWhat it providesMain caveat
FlightFactor A350 XWB AdvancedA complete flyable A350-900 with its own cockpit, systems and flight modelPayware; install the X-Plane 12-compatible release
A350-1000 or ULR community modificationsAlternative fuselage, performance or configuration work based on an existing A350Usually requires the FlightFactor aircraft and a specific compatible build
Liveries and cabin texturesAirline colours, registrations and interior changesMust match the exact model and texture mapping
Sound packsReplacement engine, cockpit or cabin audioMay depend on an aircraft-specific plugin or particular base version
Legacy freeware A350sA basic aircraft originally built for an earlier X-Plane generationPossible cockpit, plugin, lighting and flight-model problems in X-Plane 12

The FlightFactor package is the sensible choice when the exact A350 airframe matters. Buyers should still check its simulated systems and included variants rather than assuming every A350 configuration or cockpit function is covered. Our comparison of premium X-Plane 12 aircraft provides alternatives if overall systems depth matters more than flying an A350 specifically.

Is there a free Airbus A350 for X-Plane 12?

There is no widely established freeware A350 for X-Plane 12 offering the same complete, supported experience as the FlightFactor aircraft. Free A350 packages found in older libraries may have been created for X-Plane 10 or 11, even when screenshots make them look modern.

An older aircraft may appear in the aircraft-selection screen and still be unsuitable. Typical failures include blank displays, non-working custom avionics, incorrect exterior lighting, flight-model warnings or engines that do not behave correctly. Review our checks for X-Plane 11 aircraft compatibility before attempting a conversion, and always work on a copy.

Do A350-1000 and A350 ULR add-ons work without the A350-900?

Most community A350-1000 and ULR packages are modifications, not standalone aircraft. They may reuse the cockpit, plugins, systems or protected files from the FlightFactor A350-900, so the legitimate base aircraft remains necessary.

Match the modification to the base-aircraft release it names. Updating the A350 while retaining an older variant mod can produce missing geometry, unusable displays or conflicting aircraft files. A repaint labelled A350-1000 also does not turn the -900 into a correctly modelled -1000; it only changes textures unless the download explicitly includes a compatible model conversion.

How should an A350 add-on be installed?

A complete A350 aircraft belongs under X-Plane 12's Aircraft folder, while liveries and modifications must be placed inside the folders specified by their authors. The most common mistake we see is treating a dependency-based mod as a complete aircraft.

  1. Identify the package type. Confirm whether it is a complete aircraft, livery, sound pack or modification requiring FlightFactor's A350.
  2. Verify X-Plane 12 support. Check the stated simulator version, operating-system support and any base-aircraft requirement. This is especially important for plugin-driven cockpit systems.
  3. Back up the working aircraft. Keep an untouched copy before adding a variant conversion, sound replacement or cockpit modification.
  4. Extract to the correct level. Place a complete aircraft beneath Aircraft; place a repaint in that aircraft's liveries directory. Avoid an extra nested folder that separates the aircraft definition from its supporting files.
  5. Test before combining extras. Load the unmodified aircraft first, then add one package at a time. If displays remain blank or the aircraft fails to load, inspect Log.txt for a missing or rejected plugin.

For the fuller folder procedure and troubleshooting sequence, follow our X-Plane aircraft and mod installation guidance. Keeping the base A350, variant modification and aircraft-specific plugins on compatible releases prevents most failures.
