Find the best A320 for MSFS 2024 on Xbox Series S, why the included A320neo V2 wins, and what to check before buying an add-on.
For Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on Xbox Series S, the best A320 is the newer Airbus A320neo V2 supplied with the simulator, sometimes labelled simply A320neo. It offers the best balance of Airbus systems, Xbox compatibility and cost. Choose the legacy MSFS 2020 A320neo only for simplicity; Fenix and FlyByWire are unavailable on Xbox.
Why is the A320neo V2 the best choice?
The A320neo V2 is the strongest all-round A320 available to Series S owners. Its MCDU, ECAM, flight guidance, managed modes, autothrust and electronic flight bag provide substantially more depth than the original default A320neo without requiring another purchase.
It is not a certified training device, and some systems and failures remain simplified. Even so, it can handle realistic gate-to-gate airline flying, including programmed departures and arrivals, altitude constraints, managed climb and descent, and ILS approaches. Our comparison of the supplied A320neo versions explains the differences in more detail.
| A320 option | Xbox Series S status | Best use | Our verdict |
|---|---|---|---|
| A320neo V2 | Supplied for MSFS 2024 | Realistic airline operations | Best overall |
| Legacy default A320neo | May appear through older MSFS content | Quicker, simpler flying | Use only if you prefer simplicity or need a lighter fallback |
| Marketplace A320-family aircraft | Varies by product | Different engine, cabin or ceo variants | Judge individually; payware does not guarantee deeper systems |
| Fenix A320 or FlyByWire A32NX | Not available on Xbox | PC simulation | Not an Xbox option |
Can you install Fenix or FlyByWire on Xbox Series S?
No. Xbox cannot install Community-folder aircraft or the supporting PC software used by products such as the Fenix A320. The FlyByWire A32NX is also unavailable through the Xbox Marketplace, so videos or recommendations aimed at PC users do not apply to Series S.
Xbox aircraft must be supplied with the simulator or distributed as Xbox-compatible Marketplace packages. Files downloaded for the PC edition cannot be copied onto the console.
When is a Marketplace A320 worth buying?
A Marketplace A320 makes sense when you specifically want a ceo variant, another engine option, a different cabin or a particular airline configuration. It is not automatically an upgrade over the included A320neo V2.
- Confirm platform support: the listing should explicitly include Xbox and MSFS 2024. Compatibility with MSFS 2020 alone does not guarantee complete 2024 support.
- Check systems rather than liveries: look for a functional MCDU, SID and STAR support, managed flight modes and usable altitude constraints.
- Identify the actual variant: an A319, A320ceo or A321 may suit a preferred route, but it will not necessarily provide better avionics.
- Consider console dependence: Xbox users must wait for Marketplace-delivered fixes and cannot manually replace files or install unofficial patches.
Will the A320neo V2 run well on Xbox Series S?
Yes, but it is a complex glass-cockpit aircraft, and dense airports, traffic and detailed scenery can put additional pressure on the Series S. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is designed around a 30 FPS console target, but frame rate is not locked in every situation; our Xbox Series X|S frame-rate guide explains what affects it.
If the A320 stutters, loses displays or behaves unpredictably, isolate the cause before replacing the aircraft:
- Establish a baseline. Load the A320neo V2 at a default airport with clear weather and low traffic. If it works there, the aircraft package is probably not the main problem.
- Reduce competing load. Lower AI and ground traffic, leave multiplayer temporarily, and test away from a highly detailed third-party airport.
- Quit the simulator fully. Avoid relying on Quick Resume after installing or updating aircraft. Restart the console if avionics or controller profiles remain unstable.
- Check the cockpit state. A cold-and-dark A320 should have dark displays. Turn on the batteries, connect external power or start the APU, then raise the individual display brightness controls.
If all screens fail only at a large, detailed hub and return after reducing traffic or restarting, resource pressure is more likely than an incorrectly installed A320. If one powered display remains dark, check its brightness knob before troubleshooting the whole aircraft.
Our recommendation remains the included A320neo V2: learn it before paying for another A320-family package. Once installation and performance are settled, our step-by-step A320 flying procedure covers the MCDU, FCU, take-off, descent and ILS workflow.
