Which MSFS pushback add-on should you choose?
Choose by the amount of ground handling you want, not by the length of the feature list.

- Choose Toolbar Pushback Pro when you want planned tug routes from an in-sim panel but do not need a complete turnaround package. Confirm that the exact release supports your simulator before buying or installing it.

- Choose Pushback Helper for basic external buttons on Windows when drawing a route is unnecessary. It is a weaker choice for MSFS 2024 unless the specific build explicitly names that simulator.

Is there a Better Pushback for MSFS 2024 or MSFS 2020?
No. The add-on named BetterPushback is an X-Plane plug-in, not a Microsoft Flight Simulator add-on, so it cannot be installed in MSFS 2024 or MSFS 2020.
When simmers search for “better pushback MSFS”, they usually mean a better alternative to the simulator tug. GSX Pro is the closest option for profiled airline operations; Toolbar Pushback provides route drawing; Pushback Helper provides straightforward directional commands. Installing an X-Plane plug-in in the MSFS Community folder will not make it work.
Will an MSFS 2020 pushback tool work in MSFS 2024?
No compatibility should be assumed: an MSFS 2020 package may appear in MSFS 2024 yet still have a blank toolbar panel, unresponsive commands or broken tug behaviour.
MSFS 2024 reached Sim Update 5 in April 2026, while many freeware instructions and downloads were written for MSFS 2020 or the 2024 launch build. Use a release whose compatibility notes explicitly name MSFS 2024. Do not copy an old Community package across and treat a visible toolbar icon as proof that every function works.
Aircraft support is separate from simulator support. Add-on airliners may control chocks, the parking brake, nosewheel steering or ground services through their own electronic flight bag. Running that system alongside an external tug can leave the aircraft locked or summon two vehicles.
Does Pushback Helper work in MSFS 2024?
The original Pushback Helper was designed around MSFS 2020 and an external SimConnect connection, so it should not be presented as universally compatible with MSFS 2024.
A successful connection only proves that the utility can communicate with the simulator; it does not prove that every pushback event, animation or aircraft-specific restraint works. If the exact release does not state MSFS 2024 support, use the native tug, GSX Pro or a Toolbar Pushback Pro edition that does.
Can pushback add-ons run on Xbox or PlayStation?
Windows executables and Community-folder utilities cannot run on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro.
MSFS 2024 console pilots must use the built-in tug, an aircraft’s integrated system or a Marketplace product specifically labelled for that console. GSX Pro and Windows-based Pushback Helper cannot be transferred from PC. MSFS 2020 was never released on PlayStation, so PlayStation compatibility claims apply only to MSFS 2024.
How do you prevent pushback add-on conflicts?
Use one pushback controller from attachment through disconnection, and do not open a second tug system part-way through the procedure.
- Select one controller. Choose the built-in ATC tug, GSX, a toolbar utility or the aircraft’s EFB. Do not request pushback from two of them.
- Check the stand and route. Confirm that the aircraft is positioned on the intended parking spot and that any scenery-specific profile matches the installed airport.
- Set the parking brake for attachment. Remove aircraft-controlled chocks when instructed, but keep the brake set until the selected tool tells you to release it.
- Plan before moving. Draw or select the route before releasing the brake. Check whether left and right describe movement of the tail, aircraft nose or tug.
- Avoid competing steering inputs. Do not use rudder, tiller or another pushback binding while the tug controls the nosewheel.
- Finish the disconnection sequence. Set the brake when prompted and wait for the tug, towbar and simulated bypass pin to clear before taxiing or closing the panel.
Why does the tug attach but not move?
A stationary tug usually means the parking brake or chocks remain set, the tool is waiting for a release command, or another pushback system still controls the aircraft.
