Are MSFS 2020 weather add-ons compatible with MSFS 2024?
An MSFS 2020 weather add-on is not automatically compatible with MSFS 2024, even when both simulators accept similarly structured Community packages.
Simple preset files have a better chance of working than external weather engines or atmosphere modifications. Engines depend on simulator interfaces and connection methods that can change, while visual configuration mods may overwrite values altered by a Sim Update.
- Use only a version whose documentation explicitly names Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
- Do not treat an old licence, installer or product name as proof of 2024 support.
- Check that the add-on supports the platform and storefront edition you use.

How do I install a weather mod without conflicts?
Install only one active weather controller at a time, then use the weather source or preset required by that add-on.
- Confirm the package type. External engines use their own installer and application; ordinary preset packages normally go in the active Community folder.
- Remove competing weather tools. Temporarily move other injectors, atmosphere mods and outdated presets out of the Community folder.
- Check the package structure. A Community package should not be buried inside an extra folder; its package root normally contains
manifest.jsonandlayout.json. - Select the correct weather source. Do not enable built-in Live Weather while another engine is injecting conditions unless that engine’s documented passive mode specifically requires it.
- Test at a known airport. Compare observation time, wind, pressure, visibility, precipitation and cloud base. Do not expect every cloud to reproduce a METAR literally because weather systems also interpolate between reporting stations.

Can weather mods be used on Xbox or PS5?
External weather engines such as ActiveSky cannot run on Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 because consoles cannot launch the required companion application or accept arbitrary Community-folder installations.
Console pilots can use built-in Live Weather and compatible presets distributed through the in-sim Marketplace. Check the listing for the exact console before buying: PC compatibility does not establish Xbox or PS5 support.
