What ground services are already included in FSX?
FSX already provides basic pushback, jetway, baggage and fuel functions, but visible services depend on the aircraft, parking position and airport scenery.

How do I install a freeware ground-handling utility?
The correct installation method depends on whether the package is an aircraft gauge or a separate utility, so its included instructions take precedence over generic FSX installation advice.
- Extract the archive first. Unpack it into a temporary folder rather than opening or running files from inside the compressed archive.
- Locate the active FSX folder. Use the installation containing
fsx.exe. FSX: Steam Edition may be in a custom Steam library rather than the boxed edition’s folder. - Back up configuration files. Gauge-based packages may require changes to an aircraft’s
panel.cfg. Save an untouched copy before editing it. - Follow the package structure exactly. Do not place a gauge or utility in
Addon Sceneryunless its documentation specifically tells you to do so. - Test one aircraft first. Confirm that the panel window, controls and sounds work before repeating any panel changes for other aircraft.
A mistake we see constantly is an extra folder level created during extraction—for example, a package folder containing another identically named folder before the actual files. FSX then looks in the expected location and finds nothing.
Why does the ground services add-on not appear or work?
Most failures come from an incorrect installation path, missing panel configuration or an assumption that every utility appears in FSX’s top-level Add-ons menu.
- No menu entry: a gauge-based package normally opens through an aircraft panel window, not necessarily through the Add-ons menu.
- It works in only one aircraft: panel integration is commonly configured per aircraft, so installing it in one panel does not automatically modify the rest of the fleet.
- Pushback works but no detailed vehicle appears: some utilities control movement and play audio without creating a complete animated tug or service fleet.
- Default services are missing: try a suitable gate at another airport. The parking position or scenery may not support the requested vehicle or jetway.
- Steam Edition cannot find the files: check that you modified the active Steam installation rather than an old boxed FSX folder.
- Pushback behaves unpredictably: disable other pushback utilities and test again. Two tools trying to control the aircraft at once can conflict.
- The panel stops loading: restore the backed-up
panel.cfg, then repeat the package’s panel edits carefully rather than copying an entire replacement panel over the aircraft.
