What KJFK scenery add-ons are available for MSFS?

In short

Compare KJFK scenery add-ons for MSFS, including iniBuilds, FeelThere, the default airport and freeware, plus platform and conflict advice.

For Microsoft Flight Simulator, the main KJFK choices are the simulator’s handcrafted airport, full payware replacements from iniBuilds and FeelThere, and freeware enhancement or replacement packages. The right option depends on simulator version, platform, terminal-layout date, performance budget and whether you want a complete rebuild or only corrections to the default airport.

Which KJFK scenery options are available?

The established choices fall into four groups, including the built-in airport that every replacement should be compared against.

OptionWhat it providesMain checks before installing
Built-in KJFKMSFS 2020 includes a handcrafted rendition suitable for general airline operations without another package.Confirm its official content is installed and updated before deciding that the airport is incomplete.
iniBuilds New York John F. KennedyA detailed commercial replacement aimed at high-fidelity terminal, apron and airline operations.Check support for your exact simulator and platform, plus expected storage and performance demands.
FeelThere KJFKAn alternative commercial recreation covering the complete airport rather than a small enhancement.Compare its represented airport layout, included features and platform availability with the iniBuilds rendition.
Freeware KJFK packagesThese range from lighting, markings and gate corrections to larger airport replacements.Verify whether the file is for MSFS 2020 or MSFS 2024 and whether it modifies the whole airport.

Freeware inventory changes as authors release and revise packages. Search our United States MSFS scenery collection using both KJFK and John F. Kennedy, then read the compatibility notes rather than relying on the upload title alone.

New York skyline and landmark packages are separate from airport scenery. They can improve approaches over the city without rebuilding KJFK; our guide to choosing New York City scenery for MSFS explains that distinction.

Which KJFK add-on should I choose?

Choose a complete payware replacement for detailed hub operations, freeware for a targeted correction, or the built-in airport when performance and simplicity matter more than maximum detail.

  • Choose iniBuilds or FeelThere if accurate-looking terminals, aprons, jetways and night lighting are central to your flights. Compare the represented layout and feature list rather than assuming the newest-looking screenshots depict the same construction phase.
  • Keep the default airport if KJFK is an occasional destination or dense airports already strain your system. Added terminal geometry, apron objects and ground traffic can increase CPU and GPU load.
  • Use freeware when you need a specific fix, such as revised markings or parking positions, without replacing the entire airport. A full freeware rebuild must still be treated as an alternative airport, not stacked over payware.
  • Add city scenery separately when the approaches and skyline matter more than gate-level detail. Check that it does not contain overlapping airport terrain or exclusion data.

KJFK is undergoing substantial terminal redevelopment, so scenery products inevitably represent different points in time. Check which terminal footprints, gates and taxiways a package depicts. An updated navigation database can change procedures and taxiway references, but it cannot rebuild scenery geometry.

Will KJFK scenery work in MSFS 2024 and on consoles?

A KJFK package should be considered compatible only when its listing or documentation explicitly supports your simulator version and platform.

On PC, MSFS 2020 packages may sometimes load in MSFS 2024, but loading is not the same as full support. Jetways, materials, ground services, terrain blending or performance can still require an updated build. Confirm the version before moving an older package into the MSFS 2024 Community folder.

Xbox Series X|S users can install only scenery distributed through the in-simulator Marketplace. PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro run MSFS 2024 rather than MSFS 2020 and likewise cannot use manually downloaded Community-folder packages. Marketplace availability is product- and platform-specific, so a PC release does not guarantee a console edition.

How do I prevent duplicate buildings and broken taxiways?

Run only one complete KJFK replacement at a time and add neighbouring scenery back gradually after confirming the airport works by itself.

  1. Establish a clean baseline. Disable or remove every third-party package that mentions KJFK, JFK, New York airports or airport terrain.
  2. Install one airport. On PC, avoid nested Community folders; on consoles, install and manage the package through the simulator’s content system.
  3. Check optional components. Static-aircraft files can occupy gates also used by AI traffic, while compatibility files may be intended only for a named companion package.
  4. Test a simple departure. Inspect terminal geometry, runway elevations, jetways, parking stands and taxi signs before enabling other New York scenery.
  5. Restore packages individually. When the fault returns, the last enabled package is the likely conflict.

Duplicate terminals or jetways normally indicate two airport packages loading together. Floating or sunken aprons point towards a terrain or elevation conflict, while aircraft embedded in one another usually means static models are being combined with live or AI traffic. Clearing the rolling cache rarely fixes package duplication; our MSFS scenery-library management guidance covers package discovery, ordering and conflict isolation.
