Augusta State’s instrument coverage reaches only two of its four runway ends. The mix of one ILS, a localiser and two RNAV (GPS) procedures provides both ground-based and satellite-guided routes, but leaves the other two ends without a published approach. Runway length is notably uneven: 17/35 is almost twice as long as 08/26. Only 17/35 provides more than 2,613 ft, so aircraft requiring greater runway distance are limited to that alignment.
Auburn/Lewiston Municipal has chart coverage equal in count to Augusta, while Waterville Regional and Brunswick Executive are only slightly thinner. Wiscasset has four charts and Central Maine/Norridgewock three, making the latter the sparsest published set among the nearby fields listed. The Halifax and Montreal sectional charts add wider VFR context that the airport diagram, approach procedures and minimums sheets do not provide.
