At MacDill AFB, six approaches serve both ends of the single 11,421 ft conventional runway. The mix of ILS, RNAV (GPS) and localiser procedures provides several forms of instrument guidance rather than concentrating on one approach type. Nine arrival charts against one departure procedure make the published set notably arrival-weighted. The runway length supports aircraft with substantial runway-distance requirements, while the separate 100 ft helipad provides distinct helicopter infrastructure.
Tampa International and St Pete-Clearwater International have much broader procedure sets nearby. Albert Whitted and Tampa Executive are closer to MacDill’s level of coverage, while Peter O Knight has the thinnest set. The Jacksonville and Miami sectional charts provide wider VFR context, complemented by the more detailed Tampa-Orlando Terminal Area Chart.
