This release features a freeware repaint of the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander sporting an Aurigny Air Services livery from around 1988. Created by Ian Roussel, it is specifically designed for the payware Flight1/Virtavia BN2 Islander and requires that external payware model to function. In this repaint, classic Aurigny markings are depicted, reflecting a snapshot of the airline’s operations across the Channel Islands during the late 1980s. Enthusiasts of Microsoft Flight Simulator X will appreciate the blend of historical color schemes and authentic detailing throughout.

Repaint Highlights and Background

Ian Roussel meticulously crafted these custom textures to mirror Aurigny's 1988 design choices on the BN-2 airframe. The Britten-Norman brand, known for manufacturing robust utility aircraft, developed the Islander with versatile multi-role capabilities. Although the BN-2 continues to serve diverse operators worldwide, Aurigny Air Services played a significant part in the BN-2’s storied career, often connecting the Channel Islands with the UK mainland and nearby regions.

Payware Model Compatibility

This add-on relies on the Flight1/Virtavia BN2 Islander payware package. The official base model is not included in this download, so you will need to acquire it separately from a payware store such as SimShack. Upon installation into your simulator, this paint scheme will be selectable as a distinct variant within the BN-2 menu options.

Texture Installation Process

The repaint comes as texture files only, so you will need to integrate them into the original aircraft folder. Here is an overview of the setup:

  • Open the main BN2 Islander directory, which includes the aircraft.cfg file.
  • Back up the aircraft.cfg file before making any modifications.
  • Search for the last active repaint block beginning with [fltsim.x].
  • Duplicate that section, increment the x by one, then replace the relevant lines with the snippet shown below.
  • Ensure the texture= entry points to the folder named Aurigny-1988.

Configuration Code Block

Use a text editor of your choosing (for example, Notepad on Windows) to append the following to your aircraft.cfg:
