FSX Object Placement

Object Placement brings life to empty airports, harbors, and scenery by letting users drop static aircraft, boats, vehicles, animals, and mission objects directly from the SimObjects library in FSX. Set headings, load items instantly, and optionally type exact titles for custom add-ons; requires SimConnect for in-sim control.

Object Placement is a utility designed to populate areas of your choice with items from your simobjects folder. The program is a demo which will function for 5 minutes per session.

Tired of being the only object at your local airport? Tired of overflying a harbor with nothing but water? "Object Placement for FSX" will populate these barren areas with static aircraft, boats, vehicles, or even the animals found in FSX. Even the Caspian Sea Monster (the 'in ground effect aircraft' from one of the missions can now be placed in front of the tower at your local airport. If you like... set up the flour drop targets in any area of your choice and practice your flour bombing skills.

To install the program, simply click setup.exe. The program requires Simconnect.

Using the program:

  • To place an object of any type, click on its type. Aircraft, Boat, Vehicles, etc.
  • Select a specific object from the drop down list.
  • Enter the heading in which you would like the object placed.
  • Click 'Load' to place the object.

Note: Some of the objects found in the aircraft list are my own 'add-on' aircraft which might not be found on your systems. To place your own add-on aircraft or other vehicles, simply type the name of the object into the drop down window exactly as it is found in the title segment of the object configuration file. For example, in the SimObjects/Aircraft folder you will find a folder for the Beach Baron. The Aircraft config file contains the following:

[fltsim.0]
title=Beech Baron 58 Paint1
sim=Beech_Baron_58
model=
panel=
sound=
texture=1

To place Add-On aircraft into your simulator session, simply enter the title into the drop down window. In this case, it would be "Beech Baron 58 Paint1"

Work with this program is currently underway to create AI aircraft in much the same manner. Click a button, and an aircraft of your choice will fly off your wingtip. Watch for updated versions. Installation problems have been experienced on 64 bit machines.

    Tried to run Object Placement for FSX. After extracting and running setup.exe I get a message the program has stopped working. Windows 7 pro.
