FS2004 AFCAD2 File For DTTJ

Djerba–Zarzis Airport (DTTJ) gets expanded, more practical parking with an AFCAD2 layout tuned for FS2004, including realistic stand spacing and a clever “wide taxiway” workaround that doubles as a GA apron. The updated ground flow supports busier Tunisian and charter operations while keeping gate conflicts to a minimum.

Djerba-Zaris Airport, Tunisia. By Richard Reed.

For my first attempt with Lee's new version of AFCAD I decided to try something small and simple. Using stuff recently posted on PAI (the links to Tunisian airports - thanks to MoT) I tried to add parking to Djerba. Although the parking there is hard to replicate (there are alternative gates, as you'll discover if you've downloaded the DTTJ parking chart), it isn't impossible. I've omitted gates 1 and 3 since they're close to 2 and 4, (and I hate planes parking with their wings entwined, it looks so, well ... expensive!) and the diagonal parking options have also been left out. Although Lee states in the docs that it is impossible (yet) to create new aprons/ramps, with a little lateral thinking it can be done. If you look at the GA apron at DTTJ you'll notice that it isn't there in FS2004 default scenery for that airport, although there is a stub taxiway close by. Since it was on the charts and I really wanted something there to park my GA planes on, I created a taxiway 200 feet wide, and the GA planes park on one side of that large taxiway. I think that in the short term this approach to creating these kinds of things is OK. Note that if you create an "apron taxiway" you don't get the textures, so you need to be specific about the type.

Since I just uploaded a repaint of the 737-300 in Karthago colors, and have Tunisair, Nouvelair and the European charter companies installed (eg LTU, Hapag-Lloyd/TUI and Star), Djerba has become a whole lot busier now!

I hope you like the experiment given here, and that the "big taxiway" approach, although not perfect, might help you out of a tight corner with your AFCAD-ing. For non-AFCAD people, extract the BGL file to your ADDON SCENERY/SCENERY folder and it should be picked up just fine, AFCAD people already know they need to do this ... Then go to Djerba/DTTJ and admire the shiny planes.

Note, no parking codes have been used, since at Djerba they seem to be irrelevant.
