FSX Platinum Airways Airbus A320-200

Platinum Airways’ Airbus A320-200 brings a clean, modern short-haul jetliner to FSX with a detailed Project Airbus model and distinctive Marco Fischbach textures. Animated doors, drooping control surfaces, accurate spoiler and gear behavior, dynamic jetwash, cabin wingviews, and polished lighting effects round out a lively operational package that requires FSX SP2.

Flight Simulator X Prepar3D

Platinum Airways blends a straightforward operational ethos (sometimes referred to as a KISS approach) with a global network of strategic gateways. This freeware package features their distinctive Airbus A320-200, originally designed by the Project Airbus team and finished with textures by developer Marco Fischbach. It provides a carefully modeled aircraft that integrates easily with your simulator and highlights modern jetliner elements.

Model Compatibility
This model is compatible with SP2. It is recommended to have the appropriate service packs installed for optimal performance in the simulator environment.

Installation
Extract the contents of the ZIP file into your main “Flight Simulator X/Aircraft” directory. Next, transfer the items from the included “Effects” folder into your main “FSX/Effects” folder. This ensures that the custom visual elements display correctly.

Technical Highlights
Below is an overview of the principal systems and specialized animations featured on the Project Airbus A320-200 model:

  • Pressurization outflow valve [manages internal cabin pressure] opens below taxi speeds on the ground, aiding in realistic pressure control.
  • Ground spoilers activate when weight is on wheels, improving aerodynamic drag and enhancing simulated landing rollouts.
  • Pack outlets adjust automatically based on ambient temperature, demonstrating the modern air handling features of the Airbus line.
  • Idle reverse thrust simulation retains partially open reverser doors briefly, accurately mirroring real-world spool-down behavior.
  • Double-bogey compatibility (e.g., used by some operators) offers parallel bogies for enhanced realism on variants that use dual-wheel main landing gears.
  • Dynamic jetwash appears when engines are running, adding a tangible visual cue for power output.
  • Drooping control surfaces: when the aircraft is unpowered, elevators and ailerons rest in a dropped position, reflecting actual hydraulic depressurization.

This model also comes with several additional elements:

  • Opening passenger and cargo doors for immersive ground services and boarding processes.
  • Custom effects such as dual strobes, refined navigation lights, and touchdown smoke effects for visual feedback during flight operations.
  • Highly detailed surface reflections that showcase a dynamic shine on the airframe.
  • Cabin wingviews to replicate interior passenger perspectives.
  • Accurate landing gear animations that match real-world retraction sequences.

Door Operations
Use the following function triggers to gain access to doors and other hatches. Typically, these can be assigned in the simulator’s control settings if they are not configured by default:

  • L1 – Shift + E
  • L2 and cargo compartments – Tail hook up/down
  • R1 and R2 – Wing fold/unfold

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
