FSRealistic serves a different purpose. Choose it when you want restrained head movement, vibration and touchdown motion, not when you need to save precise viewpoints. If another add-on or the simulator is already adding movement, reduce one layer rather than running both at high intensity—doubled camera motion produces exaggerated oscillation and is particularly uncomfortable in VR.
Are free aircraft camera packs worth installing?
Free camera packs are worthwhile when one particular aircraft has poor default viewpoints or lacks convenient wing, overhead and cabin positions. There is no genuinely universal pack: every aircraft has different geometry, reference points and variants.
- Match the simulator edition. Confirm that the package names Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 or 2024 rather than assuming both use identical definitions.
- Match the exact aircraft. A view pack for one developer's A320, or even another variant from the same family, can place cameras inside panels or outside the model.
- Install the package at the correct level. For a normal Community package, files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.jsonshould not be buried beneath an extra duplicate folder. - Use one camera pack per aircraft. Two packages replacing the same definitions may load unpredictably, even when both appear enabled.
- Test after aircraft updates. Revised cockpit geometry can leave an old camera position clipping through a seat, bulkhead or instrument panel.
A camera pack can only move the viewpoint; it cannot create a detailed passenger cabin or wing geometry that the aircraft model does not contain. Protected Marketplace aircraft may also prevent the direct file editing required by some older camera modifications.

Direct edits inside official aircraft folders can be replaced by simulator or aircraft updates.
Do you need a mod for the MSFS drone camera?
You do not need a drone-view mod for normal screenshots, aircraft walkarounds or free exterior filming because Microsoft Flight Simulator already includes a capable drone camera. Add a camera manager only when you need repeatable presets, automated transitions or fly-by behaviour.
The native drone often appears broken because the user is in the wrong camera mode, the active controller profile has no drone bindings, or drone translation speed has been reduced almost to zero. For smoother footage, use analogue controller axes where possible and reduce translation and rotation speeds before recording. A camera utility is not automatically a replay recorder: if you want to refilm the same landing from several angles, record or replay the flight first and then reposition the camera for each pass.
Do camera mods work on Xbox and PlayStation?
No, normal Community-folder camera packs and desktop camera utilities are effectively PC-only. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 or PS5 Pro users must rely on the native camera system and any compatible add-on explicitly distributed through the in-simulator Marketplace.
