See the best liveries for MSFS 2024 on PC, including airline, GA and bush picks, with compatibility checks and fixes for missing repaints.
The best liveries for MSFS 2024 on PC are exact-aircraft repaints: realistic airline packs for the A330-900neo and A320neo, authentic or period-style Cessna 152 schemes, and high-visibility Kitfox bush liveries. Pick the aircraft developer and variant before the artwork; even an excellent repaint will fail on a different model.
Our best MSFS 2024 livery picks by flying style
The strongest choice depends on the aircraft you fly and whether you value operational realism, visual variety or fictional designs.
| Flying style | Best livery choice | Why it stands out |
|---|---|---|
| Long-haul airline | A330-900neo airline packs | A multi-operator pack gives useful variety without installing separate packages for every carrier. One notable option contains eight 4K repaints; see the A330-900neo pack details and compatibility guidance. |
| Short-haul airline | A320neo operator liveries | These suit scheduled route flying and airport screenshots. Match the repaint to the exact A320neo package; liveries made for one developer's model rarely transfer cleanly to another. |
| General aviation | Cessna 152 club, trainer and heritage schemes | Subtle registrations, stripes and period colours suit the aeroplane better than oversized airline branding. They are useful for training flights and local touring. |
| Bush flying | High-visibility Kitfox liveries | Bright wings and contrasting fuselage colours remain easy to identify against snow, forest and rough strips. |
| Creative flying | Fictional airline repaints | These are best when appearance matters more than fleet accuracy. A livery depicting an operator on an aircraft type it does not use should be treated as a fictional or “what-if” scheme. |
Our curated shortlist of free airline, GA and bush repaints compares several of these options without assuming that the largest texture file is automatically the best.
What makes a good MSFS 2024 livery?
A good repaint fits its intended model correctly, preserves the aircraft's material effects and installs as a self-contained package.
- Exact aircraft support: “A320neo” or “A330” alone is not specific enough. Check the developer, variant and generation of the aircraft.
- Clean texture mapping: Logos should line up across doors, fuselage joins, tail surfaces and mirrored sections without stretching or reversal.
- Appropriate resolution: 4K textures are often a sensible balance. Very large textures can look sharper close up but consume more video memory and increase loading time.
- Correct materials: Paint, bare metal, composite panels and decals should retain believable gloss and reflectivity rather than appearing uniformly shiny or matt.
- Non-destructive packaging: Prefer a standalone Community package that does not ask you to overwrite the original aircraft.
How do I know a livery will work in MSFS 2024?
A livery is compatible only when it targets the aircraft package installed in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, not merely the same real-world aircraft name.
Check the download description for the simulator version, aircraft developer and precise variant. Our MSFS 2024 livery download guidance explains how to make those checks before adding a repaint.
Some MSFS 2020 liveries work in MSFS 2024, but compatibility is not automatic. Changed models, texture layouts, package references or aircraft identifiers can leave an older repaint absent, distorted or covered in missing-texture patterns.
How do I install a livery on PC?
Most third-party MSFS 2024 liveries are extracted and placed in the active Community folder.
- Download the correct package for your installed aircraft and variant.
- Extract the archive fully. Do not place the compressed ZIP or RAR archive in the Community folder.
- Find the package root. This is normally the folder containing files such as
manifest.jsonandlayout.json, rather than an extra wrapper folder created during extraction. - Move that package folder into the Community folder used by your installation. Its location varies with the PC edition and any custom Packages path.
- Restart the simulator and select the supported aircraft, then choose the repaint from its available liveries.
For the folder-location variations and package examples, follow our complete PC livery installation procedure.
Why is my MSFS 2024 livery not showing?
A missing livery usually means the package is nested too deeply, installed in the wrong Community folder or built for a different aircraft.
- No livery entry: Remove unnecessary outer folders and confirm that you are viewing the exact supported aircraft variant.
- Pink, chequered or invisible textures: The package has missing references or incompatible texture mapping. Replace it with a version made for that aircraft package.
- Warped or misplaced logos: The repaint targets another model, even if the aircraft designation looks similar.
- Duplicate entries: Remove older copies of the same livery and check that a livery manager has not enabled it twice.
- New stutters or slow loading: Temporarily remove the pack and test again. Large high-resolution collections can increase memory use, particularly when many are enabled together.
