Best Piper Warrior add-on for MSFS 2024?

Adam McEnroe
In short

Find the best Piper Warrior add-on for MSFS 2024, why Just Flight’s PA-28-161 wins, and the compatibility checks to make before buying.

The best dedicated Piper Warrior add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is Just Flight’s PA-28-161 Warrior II, provided the build is explicitly supported in MSFS 2024. It models the correct fixed-gear, fixed-pitch 160 hp trainer and gives a more faithful Warrior experience than substituting an Archer, Arrow or Comanche.

Why is the Just Flight Warrior II the best choice?

It is the strongest choice because it represents the actual PA-28-161 Warrior II rather than merely another low-wing Piper. The cockpit, analogue instrumentation and aircraft systems support the procedures people expect from this trainer, including tank selection, auxiliary fuel-pump use, mixture management and carburettor heat.

The Warrior’s appeal is not raw performance. It is a stable, straightforward aeroplane for circuits, navigation practice and instrument familiarisation. That also explains its place among the most useful general-aviation aircraft for flight simulation.

We would call the Just Flight package a detailed procedural trainer rather than promise that every component has full ownership-level wear modelling. “Study level” has no official definition, so judge it by system consequences, checklist fidelity, navigation equipment and failures—not the number of switches that move. Our explanation of realistic aircraft failure simulation in MSFS 2024 covers the distinctions that matter.

When is a different Piper the better choice?

The Warrior II is best only when you specifically want the common fixed-gear training aircraft. Closely related Pipers serve different purposes.

What you wantBetter choiceKey difference
Authentic Warrior trainingJust Flight PA-28-161 Warrior II160 hp, fixed gear and fixed-pitch propeller
More power in a fixed-gear PA-28PA-28-181 Archer III180 hp and a later touring/training variant
Complex-aircraft proceduresPA-28R ArrowRetractable undercarriage and constant-speed propeller
Persistent wear and ownership simulationA2A Comanche 250Deeper ownership focus, but it is a PA-24—not a Warrior

A mistake we see constantly is treating “PA-28”, “Piper” and “Warrior” as interchangeable search terms. An Arrow may be more complex and an Archer more powerful, but neither reproduces the exact Warrior II workflow and performance.

What should you check before buying?

  1. Confirm MSFS 2024 support. A package originally built for MSFS 2020 may work, but that alone does not prove full compatibility. Check that the supplied build or Marketplace listing explicitly includes Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024.
  2. Check the platform listing. PC users can install supported third-party packages outside the simulator. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 users cannot copy an aircraft into a Community folder; the Warrior must be offered through the in-simulator Marketplace for that console.
  3. Inspect the avionics requirements. Optional GPS configurations may depend on an additional avionics package. The conventional analogue panel remains the better choice when matching a real flying-school Warrior.
  4. Do not assume Career Mode support. An aircraft can work perfectly in Free Flight yet remain unavailable for Career missions.
  5. Replace old installations cleanly. Do not leave an older MSFS 2020 package beside the updated build. PC users can follow our Community-folder installation and package troubleshooting steps.

How do you fix common Warrior add-on problems?

  • The aircraft does not appear: remove duplicate or obsolete copies, verify that the aircraft folder is not nested an extra level, and restart the simulator after installation.
  • A GPS screen is blank: test the standard panel first. Then check whether the selected GPS option requires a separate module and whether that module supports MSFS 2024.
  • The aircraft yaws or pitches excessively: look for duplicate rudder, trim or throttle bindings. Disable piloting assists while assessing the flight model and recalibrate any noisy axes.
  • The engine will not start: use the package’s checklist and verify fuel quantity, tank selection, mixture, magnetos and electrical state. A correctly simulated Warrior will not always respond to a generic MSFS start sequence.
  • The aircraft works only in Free Flight: this is usually a Career Mode eligibility issue, not a failed installation.

Does the Piper Warrior work in MSFS 2024 Career Mode?

Free Flight compatibility does not guarantee that the Warrior will appear in Career Mode. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 separately controls aircraft eligibility by mission type, certification, configuration and package support.

Check the aircraft’s explicit Career compatibility before buying it for that purpose. Our guide to how add-on aircraft qualify for MSFS 2024 Career Mode explains why an installed Warrior may be flyable from the world map but absent from employee or company missions.
