Find a free Airbus A350 for X-Plane 12, verify real compatibility, install it correctly, and avoid old aircraft, liveries and broken conversions.
X-Plane 12 does not include an Airbus A350, and we cannot recommend a dependable native X-Plane 12 freeware A350 package. Search our X-Plane aircraft and mods library, but install one only when its description explicitly confirms X-Plane 12 support; many free A350 files are older aircraft or liveries rather than complete models.
Is there a genuinely free X-Plane 12 A350?
A complete, native X-Plane 12 freeware A350 is difficult to find, particularly one with a working glass cockpit, flight-management system and aircraft-specific systems. Many downloads described as an A350 fall into one of three categories:
- Complete aircraft: includes an
.acffile, cockpit, objects, sounds and any required plugins. - Livery only: changes the paintwork of an A350 you must already own or have installed.
- Older model or conversion: was built for an earlier X-Plane release and may have incomplete systems or compatibility faults in X-Plane 12.
Do not download a package that asks you to copy protected cockpit, object or plugin files from a commercial aircraft. That is not self-contained freeware and may breach the original developer's licence.
How do I check whether an A350 download works in X-Plane 12?
The download page must explicitly name X-Plane 12; a generic X-Plane label is not enough.
| Listing description | What it means | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| Native X-Plane 12 aircraft | Built or formally updated for X-Plane 12 | Best choice, subject to any stated dependencies |
| X-Plane 11 aircraft tested in X-Plane 12 | May work with documented limitations | Read the limitations and user instructions before installing |
| X-Plane 10 or 11 only | No confirmed X-Plane 12 support | Avoid unless you accept missing systems, visual faults or crashes |
| A350 livery or repaint | Paint files for a specific base aircraft | Install only if you own the exact aircraft and supported version |
Also check the operating system, required plugins, base-aircraft requirement and date of the documented X-Plane 12 update. Our X-Plane add-on compatibility checks explain what to verify before downloading.
Can an X-Plane 11 A350 work in X-Plane 12?
Some X-Plane 11 aircraft will load in X-Plane 12, but loading successfully does not prove that they work correctly. Typical faults include dark cockpit displays, missing textures, broken sounds, incompatible plugins, incorrect lighting and flight-model behaviour that was never tuned for X-Plane 12.
Simply opening and saving an old aircraft in Plane Maker does not convert its systems, plugins or artwork. Keep a clean backup if you experiment with an older model.
How do I install a compatible A350?
A complete A350 installs under the X-Plane 12 Aircraft directory, not under Custom Scenery.
- Extract the archive. Do not leave the aircraft inside a ZIP, RAR or 7z file.
- Find the actual aircraft folder. It should contain at least one
.acffile. Remove an unnecessary outer wrapper folder if extraction created two identically named levels. - Copy the complete folder into
X-Plane 12/Aircraft/. Keep its objects, cockpit, sounds and aircraft-specific plugins together. - Read the included instructions. Install only the dependencies named by the developer and confirm that any plugin supports your operating system.
- Restart X-Plane 12 and locate the aircraft in the flight-configuration aircraft selector.
If the A350 does not appear, the usual causes are a missing .acf file, excessive nested folders or an aircraft built for an unsupported simulator version. If only a repaint was downloaded, nothing will appear until the exact required base aircraft is installed.
What can I fly instead of a freeware A350?
The closest dependable Airbus widebody supplied with X-Plane 12 is the Airbus A330-300; our guide to the included X-Plane 12 fleet confirms what comes with the simulator. It is not an A350, but it avoids the missing cockpit, plugin and flight-model problems common to unsupported freeware conversions.
For other no-cost choices, compare our recommended free X-Plane 12 aircraft. Choose an older A350 model only for casual visual flying if its limitations are acceptable; use a native X-Plane 12 aircraft when reliable instruments, procedures and systems matter.
