How do I fly to my house’s exact coordinates in MSFS?
The reliable method is to use decimal latitude and longitude rather than expecting Microsoft Flight Simulator to recognise a postal address.
- Copy the coordinates. Drop a pin on your house in a mapping application and copy its decimal latitude and longitude. Check that south and west coordinates retain their minus signs.
- Enable streamed scenery. Turn on online functionality and world-data streaming before loading the flight. In MSFS 2020, check settings such as
Bing Data World GraphicsandPhotogrammetry; wording and menu placement can differ in MSFS 2024. - Search the World Map. Paste the coordinate pair into the search field. If that format is not recognised, use the coordinates to centre the map manually and place a custom pin.
- Choose a sensible starting point. For the quickest method, create an airborne departure several miles from the house. For a more realistic flight, start at the nearest airport and use the house coordinates as your destination reference.
- Use a slow aircraft. A Cessna 152, Cessna 172 or light bush aircraft gives the scenery time to load. Clear daytime weather, light winds and roughly 1,500–2,500 feet above ground make streets easier to identify.
- Follow large landmarks first. Locate a river, railway, motorway junction, school or sports ground, then work down to the correct road. The cockpit map normally will not display every residential street.
A mistake we see constantly is placing the aircraft directly above the roof. By the time the flight finishes loading, the house is already behind or beneath the aircraft. Starting a few miles away gives you time to establish direction, altitude and speed.
Why is my house missing or different in the simulator?
A missing or inaccurate house normally reflects the source imagery or generated scenery, not incorrect coordinates.
- The view is not live. Aerial photographs may pre-date an extension, new housing development, roof replacement or demolished building.
- The building is generated. Outside photogrammetry areas, the simulator may infer a generic building from a footprint. Its height, roof shape and colour can be wrong even when the road layout is accurate.
- Online data is disabled. Offline scenery is much less detailed and may replace the entire neighbourhood with generic textures and autogen.
- Scenery is still streaming. A fast jet can outrun the connection or cache. Slow down, circle the area and allow textures and objects to resolve.
- Photogrammetry is distorted. Trees and buildings can appear melted or uneven. Disabling photogrammetry may produce cleaner generated buildings, but they will usually be less faithful to the real structures.
- A cache or add-on is interfering. Test without local scenery modifications and rebuild the rolling cache if a previously clear area has become persistently blurred.
If the whole district is blurry, flat or covered by generic buildings, work through our Microsoft Flight Simulator scenery-loading checks. Increasing terrain or object detail cannot restore information that is absent from the underlying imagery.
Can I fly over my house without Microsoft Flight Simulator?
Yes, but the best alternative depends on whether visual recognition or realistic aircraft operation matters more.

X-Plane is better for aircraft handling and procedural flying, but an individual home is unlikely to match without suitable local orthophoto or custom scenery. FSX and Prepar3D can also reach exact coordinates, although their default scenery is too general for reliable house identification in most locations.
