All four ends of MSY’s two fixed-wing runways have published approaches. The mix is particularly broad: five ILS procedures, including one with CAT II/III minima, sit alongside seven RNAV (GPS) procedures plus localiser and VOR coverage. This gives each runway alignment instrument support rather than concentrating procedures on a preferred end. At 10,104 ft, runway 11/29 provides over 3,000 ft more pavement than 02/20, making the two alignments materially different where runway-length requirements are concerned.
Lakefront and New Orleans NAS JRB have the broadest nearby procedure sets, while Port of South Louisiana, Slidell and Hammond Northshore have markedly thinner coverage.
