Go PROFrom Louisiana’s bayou country and the Mississippi Delta, this sheet follows the Gulf Coast east through southern Mississippi and Alabama to the Florida Panhandle, while extending well offshore across the northern Gulf of Mexico. Lake Pontchartrain, Mobile Bay, barrier islands, wetlands and long stretches of coastline give the area its distinctive geography.
Much of the coverage is low-lying coastal plain, with extensive marshes, waterways and forested inland country. The mix of urbanised corridors, river systems, open water and an irregular shoreline makes visual route planning markedly different from flying across a uniform inland landscape.
Routes continuing west pass onto the Houston sheet, while Jacksonville takes over to the east. Memphis and Atlanta adjoin across the north-western and north-eastern edges respectively, providing the natural continuation for longer journeys away from the coast. A Terminal Area Chart also covers the principal metropolitan area at a larger scale, complementing this sectional’s broader regional view with a more concentrated depiction of the terminal environment.
