Procedure coverage

New Orleans NAS JRB’s instrument coverage reaches all four runway ends rather than concentrating arrivals on one alignment. The mix of RNAV (GPS), VOR, ILS and localiser procedures provides both satellite-based and ground-based options. With one runway at 10,000 ft and the other at 6,000 ft, the two alignments are not equivalent where more than 6,000 ft is required; only 04/22 supplies that additional length.

Local chart context

Lakefront has a comparably broad procedure set, while Louis Armstrong New Orleans International has broader coverage still. South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr, Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional and Slidell have much thinner sets. The sectional, Terminal Area Chart and Gulf Coast Helicopter Route Chart add VFR and route-specific context beyond the instrument procedures.
