FSX Red Bull Air Race Abu Dhabi Scenery (W/O Corniche)

This freeware enhancement recreates the Red Bull Air Race environment held in Abu Dhabi during 2010. Initially developed by Syscot Yves and Carlos Santos, it provides a specialized course layout near OMAD, which Abu Dhabi’s aviation community often recognizes as Al Bateen Executive Airport. This package integrates portable pylons, race gates, and other custom objects into Microsoft Flight Simulator X, enabling virtual pilots to simulate high-speed aerobatic challenges along the Arabian Gulf.

Abu Dhabi’s 2010 Race Layout and Key Features

The scenery positions dynamic race markers where the actual competition was hosted, capturing the unique circuit around Abu Dhabi’s waterfront. Pilots can expect an accurate series of air gates to maneuver through, replicating the tight turns and precision flying demanded by real-world aerobatic racing. The design omits elements of the Corniche area for performance considerations, ensuring smooth frame rates while preserving an authentic appearance. Additionally, the pylons have been carefully stationed to allow for practice of precise control inputs and race navigation.

Important Technical Details

• Location of Track: From OMAD (Al Bateen Executive Airport), set a heading of approximately 284° for about 19.6 nautical miles. This should place you right over the racecourse.
• Optimal Performance: The developers carefully balanced visual fidelity with smooth performance, so even moderate systems can enjoy the adrenaline-fueled course.
• Scenery Placement: All custom objects align with real geography, reflecting the event’s actual configuration along Abu Dhabi’s coastline.

Installation Instructions

Windows Vista

1. Run the included EXE file and install into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery.
2. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X, then navigate to Settings > Scenery Library.
3. Select Add Area and locate the newly added Abu Dhabi 2010 folder within the Addon Scenery directory.
4. When prompted, confirm and ensure Red Bull Air Race Abu Dhabi 2010 has priority in your scenery library order.

Windows XP

1. Extract or run the EXE into: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Addon Scenery.
2. Launch Microsoft Flight Simulator X and open Settings > Scenery Library.
3. Add the Abu Dhabi 2010 folder and confirm the library entry. Make sure Red Bull Air Race Abu Dhabi 2010 is in the correct sequence as recommended.
