This updated release brings a highly detailed Boeing 787-8 in Air Canada’s livery, complete with enhanced animations and improved ground handling support. Developed by CamSim, with aircraft design and artwork by Camil Valiquette, this package provides a full freeware experience designed exclusively for FSX.

Overview

Experience the streamlined fuselage of the Boeing 787-8, rendered with precision to capture its advanced aerodynamic profile. Air Canada’s distinctive liveries are reproduced to showcase the airline’s visual identity. This version integrates new Animated Ground Servicing (AGS), enabling interactive elements like movable doors, cargo loading, and ground service vehicles. These features introduce immersive operations that simulate real-world processes while on the tarmac.

Main Features

  • Airframe Detailing: The model incorporates subtle refinements in wing flex, nose shape, and fuselage contours.
  • Animated Ground Servicing (AGS): Engage passenger doors, cargo doors, and service vehicles through the simulator’s standard key assignments.
  • Accurate Textures: The Air Canada livery reflects updated branding elements and realistic surface effects.

The Boeing 787-8 itself is recognized for its composite structures, efficient engines, and extended range capabilities. In FSX, these design elements translate into stable handling and a modern cockpit environment.

Installation Instructions

  1. Extract all files directly into the “Airplanes” folder within your main FSX directory.
  2. If you have not installed any previous CamSim aircraft with AGS, unzip the “Effects.zip” into your main FSX folder, ensuring the contents are placed in the “Effects” directory.

Note: Users who already run another AGS-equipped plane from CamSim may skip step two.

Activating AGS

Accessing the animated mechanisms is straightforward, but custom control assignments are required for full functionality:

  • Shift + E: Opens or closes passenger doors.
  • Shift + D: Toggles the cargo hatches up or down.
  • Shift + C: Starts or ends ground support animations (such as baggage loaders or service trucks).

In FSX, bind Wing fold/unfold to Shift + C and Tail hook up/down to Shift + D. This setup ensures the key commands align with the model’s custom animations.

Additional Notes

This freeware add-on is fully self-contained and does not require additional payware resources to operate. The package aims to provide a faithful representation of the 787-8’s external appearance with a Canadian carrier’s distinctive markings. Both the model and textures remain licensed under the freeware terms set by CamSim.

Requires dependencies

This add-on may require the following files to function properly. If this is a repaint, the dependency below is likely the base aircraft package.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D aircraft
  1. Extract the downloaded archive

Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.
  2. Copy aircraft files into SimObjects

Place the aircraft folder inside FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes\. The folder must contain an aircraft.cfg file. Effects go into FSX\Effects\; gauges go into FSX\Gauges\.
  3. Verify in FSX

Launch FSX, go to Free Flight → Select Aircraft and find your new aircraft under its manufacturer.
  4. Always read the included readme

Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.
