FSX The Most Dangerous Airports: Kai Tak Mission

Kai Tak Mission recreates Hong Kong’s legendary runway 13 arrival with a steep right turn over dense city blocks and storm-driven crosswinds, framed as a fictional British Airways charter challenge in Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Choose day or night variants for offline or online flying; requires an FSX Concorde package and engine fix, plus VHHX ILS scenery.

The Most Dangerous Airports: Kai Tak. The missions in this seres are of a historical nature, both for the airport and the aircraft. The flight is a fictional charter British Airways flight. The Kai Tak airport was rated as the one of the most dangerous airports, due to its approach, it has a 45 degree right bank just before landing on runway 13. The airport was famous for its approach through, flying through the high raising buildings of Hong Kong, with regular crosswinds, which have created numerous problems for many a pilot. So it was decided to put these two together in a mission to be enjoyed as a challenge. Includes four options: FSX/day/stormy, FSX/night/stormy, online/day, online/night. By Robbie Albers.

The Most Dangerous Airports: Kai Tak Mission.

I have created the following 4 options: FSX - Day - Stormy weather
FSX - Night - Stormy weather
Online - Day - weather
Online - Night - weather

The following zip files for these missions needs to be found on the net and installed:

Concorde package for FSX for the aircraft installation
Concorde Engine Fix to make startup possible

Plus I have added the vhhx_ils_jv.zip file for VHHX approach, that needs to be added as normal Add-On Scenery. This restores the airport to it's former glory days. Thank you Jim Vile for releasing this freeware airport.

INSTALATION:

Unzip the mission zip file into the mission directory of your FSX. Make sure your mission show captioning is ticked on. Place the Add-On Scenery as instructed. The AI Traffic can be added or left out. Copy the IFR Guam Intl to Hong Kong Intl (old).PLN in the Flight Simulator X Files directory, where all your other flight plans are stored. The flight plans for all four missions are exactly the same.

That's all. Enjoy the missions. I did, creating it.

How to install this mod

FSX / P3D mission

  1. Extract the downloaded archive

    Use 7-Zip (free) or WinRAR to extract the ZIP to a temporary folder. Don't install while still zipped — the simulator can't read inside ZIP files.

  2. Place mission files

    Missions go into FSX\Missions\ as a sub-folder. The folder must contain an XML file describing the mission.

  3. Always read the included readme

    Every mod ships with a readme.txt or README file. It tells you exactly where files go, what dependencies are needed, and any quirks specific to this add-on.

    This flight does not show up, what subfolder in missions should it go? e.g. airline pilot. i put all the files right including the .flt
