If the same download starts again on every launch, that is not normal. Check these points:
- Confirm free space on both the application drive and the drive containing Packages or cache data.
- Let every installation stage finish before closing the simulator, including any package processing performed after the platform update.
- Check the package location if files or drives were moved. An invalid or unavailable path can make the simulator behave as though content is missing.
- Distinguish cache growth from an update. Increasing rolling-cache use is not the simulator downloading itself again.
For a failed or repeating update, follow the correct MSFS 2024 update sequence rather than deleting package folders at random.
Can you keep the installation small?
