Coverage across the Metroplex

From Weatherford in the west to the country approaching Terrell in the east, this sheet spans the full Dallas–Fort Worth urban corridor. It reaches north beyond Denton and south towards Waxahachie, taking in the dense central Metroplex and its broad suburban margins.

The setting is predominantly rolling North Texas prairie rather than mountainous terrain. Extensive development, major transport corridors and numerous reservoirs give way to more open farmland near the outer edges. That contrast makes the sheet particularly characteristic of helicopter flying around a large, dispersed inland conurbation.

Related FAA coverage

The same area also appears on the relevant Sectional Aeronautical Chart and Terminal Area Chart. The sectional places Dallas–Fort Worth within a much wider regional setting, making it the broader-context companion for routes entering or leaving North Texas. The terminal area chart provides an enlarged treatment of the busy metropolitan area, while the Helicopter Route Chart presents the specialised rotorcraft view of the Metroplex on a single, self-contained sheet.

Common questions

What area does the Dallas-Ft Worth Helicopter Route Chart cover?

It spans 32.4°N to 33.3°N and 97.8°W to 96.3°W. Airports on the sheet fall within Texas. The full list of public-use airports within its coverage is on this page.

Should I download the GeoTIFF or the PDF?

Take the GeoTIFF if you are loading the chart into moving-map software or a flight planner — it is georeferenced, so the software can place it correctly on a map, and it ships with a world file and FGDC metadata at 300 dpi (31.7 MB). Take the PDF to print it or read it on a second screen (64.3 MB); it is the same chart without georeferencing.

Is this the current Dallas-Ft Worth chart?

This is the FAA edition effective 9 July 2026, which is superseded on 3 September 2026. Visual charts are reissued every 56 days and we publish each new edition on the day it takes effect. It is for flight simulation and reference only — not for real-world navigation.

Is the Dallas-Ft Worth Helicopter Route Chart free to download?

Yes, with no account required. FAA charts are United States Government works and are not subject to copyright protection in the US under 17 U.S.C. § 105. Guest downloads are speed-capped, so a sheet this size takes a while; PRO members download at full line speed and can take the whole family as one archive.
